بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ﴿1﴾

أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ ﴿2﴾

کہ ان کے پاس ایک اندھا آیا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Because the blind man had come in his august presence.
Arberry
that the blind man came to him.
وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ ﴿3﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور آپ کو کیا معلوم کہ شاید وہ پاک ہوجائے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And what do you know, he may be of the pure!
Arberry
And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him,
أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ ﴿4﴾
Ahmed Ali
یا وہ نصیحت پکڑ لے تو اس کو نصیحت نفع دے

Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him.
Arberry
or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him.
أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ ﴿5﴾
Ahmed Ali
لیکن وہ جو پروا نہیں کرتا
Ahmed Raza Khan
For him who does not care,
Arberry
But the self-sufficient,
فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ ﴿6﴾
Ahmed Ali
سو آپ کے لیے توجہ کرتے ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khan
So you are after him!
Arberry
to him thou attendest
وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ ﴿7﴾
Ahmed Ali
حالانکہ آپ پر اس کےنہ سدھرنے کا کوئی الزام نہیں

And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure.
Arberry
though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself.
وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ ﴿8﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور لیکن جو آپ کے پاس دوڑتا ہوا آیا
Ahmed Raza Khan
And for him who came to you striving,

And he who comes to thee eagerly
وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ ﴿9﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور وہ ڈر رہا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And whereas he fears,
Arberry
and fearfully,
فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ ﴿10﴾
Ahmed Ali
تو آپ اس سے بے پروائی کرتے ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khan
So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere!
Arberry
to him thou payest no heed.
كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌۭ ﴿11﴾
Ahmed Ali
ایسا نہیں چاہیئے بے شک یہ تو ایک نصیحت ہے

Not this way – this is the advice.
Arberry
No indeed; it is a Reminder
فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ﴿12﴾
Ahmed Ali
پس جو چاہے اس کو یاد کرے
Ahmed Raza Khan
So whoever wishes may remember it.
Arberry
(and whoso wills, shall remember it)
فِى صُحُفٍۢ مُّكَرَّمَةٍۢ ﴿13﴾
Ahmed Ali
وہ عزت والے صحیفوں میں ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
On honourable pages.
Arberry
upon pages high-honoured,
مَّرْفُوعَةٍۢ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ ﴿14﴾
Ahmed Ali
جو بلند مرتبہ اور پاک ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khan
Exalted, pure.
Arberry
uplifted, purified,
بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍۢ ﴿15﴾
Ahmed Ali
ان لکھنے والوں کے ہاتھوں میں
Ahmed Raza Khan
Written by the hands of emissaries.
Arberry
by the hands of scribes
كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍۢ ﴿16﴾
Ahmed Ali
جو بڑے بزرگ نیکو کار ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khan
Who are noble, virtuous.
Arberry
noble, pious.
قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ ﴿17﴾
Ahmed Ali
انسان پر خدا کی مار وہ کیسا ناشکرا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
May man be slain – how ungrateful he is!
Arberry
Perish Man! How unthankful he is!
مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ ﴿18﴾

اس نے کس چیز سے اس کو بنایا

From what did He create him?
Arberry
Of what did He create him?
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ ﴿19﴾
Ahmed Ali
ایک بوند سے اس کوبنایا پھر اس کا اندزہ ٹھیرایا
Ahmed Raza Khan
From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him.
Arberry
Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him,
ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ ﴿20﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھراس پر راستہ آسان کر دیا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Then eased the way for him.
Arberry
then the way eased for him,
ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ ﴿21﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھر اس کو موت دی پھر اس کو قبر میں رکھوایا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave.
Arberry
then makes him to die, and buries him,
ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ ﴿22﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھر جب چاہے گا اٹھا کر کھڑا کرے گا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.)

then, when He wills, He raises him.
كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ ﴿23﴾

ایسا نہیں چاہیئے اس نے تعمیل نہیں کی جو اس کو حکم دیا تھا

Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded.

No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding.
فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ ﴿24﴾
Ahmed Ali
پس انسان کو اپنے کھانے کی طرف غور کرنا چاہیئے
Ahmed Raza Khan
So man must look at his food.

Let Man consider his nourishment.
أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّۭا ﴿25﴾
Ahmed Ali
کہ ہم نے اوپر سے مینہ برسایا
Ahmed Raza Khan
That We watered it in abundance.
Arberry
We poured out the rains abundantly,
ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّۭا ﴿26﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھر ہم نے زمین کو چیر کر پھاڑا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Then We split the earth properly.
Arberry
then We split the earth in fissures
فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّۭا ﴿27﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھر ہم نے اس میں اناج ا گایا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Thereby produced grain in it.
Arberry
and therein made the grains to grow
وَعِنَبًۭا وَقَضْبًۭا ﴿28﴾
Ahmed Ali
اورانگور اور ترکاریاں
Ahmed Raza Khan
And grapes and fodder,
Arberry
and vines, and reeds,
وَزَيْتُونًۭا وَنَخْلًۭا ﴿29﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور زیتون اور کھجور
Ahmed Raza Khan
And olives and date palms,
Arberry
and olives, and palms,
وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًۭا ﴿30﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور گھنے باغ
Ahmed Raza Khan
And dense gardens,
Arberry
and dense-tree'd gardens,
وَفَٰكِهَةًۭ وَأَبًّۭا ﴿31﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور میوے اور گھاس
Ahmed Raza Khan
And fruits and grass,
Arberry
and fruits, and pastures,
مَّتَٰعًۭا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْ ﴿32﴾
Ahmed Ali
تمہارے لیے اور تمہارے چار پایوں کے لیے سامان حیات
Ahmed Raza Khan
In order to benefit you and your cattle.
Arberry
an enjoyment for you and your flocks.
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ ﴿33﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھر جس وقت کانوں کا بہرا کرنے والا شور برپا ہوگا

So when the deafening Shout arrives,

And when the Blast shall sound,
يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ ﴿34﴾
Ahmed Ali
جس دن آدمی اپنے بھائی سے بھاگے گا
Ahmed Raza Khan
On that day man will run away from his brother.
Arberry
upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother,
وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ ﴿35﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور اپنی ماں اور باپ سے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And from his mother and father,
Arberry
his mother, his father,
وَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ ﴿36﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور اپنی بیوی اوراپنے بیٹوں سے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And from his wife and sons.
Arberry
his consort, his sons,
لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ شَأْنٌۭ يُغْنِيهِ ﴿37﴾
Ahmed Ali
ہر شخص کی ایسی حالت ہوگی جو اس کو اوروں کی طرف سے بے پروا کر دے گی

On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him.

every man that day shall have business to suffice him.
وُجُوهٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ مُّسْفِرَةٌۭ ﴿38﴾
Ahmed Ali
اورکچھ چہرے اس دن چمک رہے ہوں گے

Many a face will be glittering on that day.
Arberry
Some faces on that day shall shine
ضَاحِكَةٌۭ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌۭ ﴿39﴾
Ahmed Ali
ہنستے ہوئے خوش و خرم
Ahmed Raza Khan
Laughing, rejoicing.
Arberry
laughing, joyous;
وَوُجُوهٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌۭ ﴿40﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور کچھ چہرے اس دن ایسے ہوں گے کہ ان پر گرد پڑی ہو گی

And many a face will be covered with dust on that day.

some faces on that day shall be dusty
تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ ﴿41﴾
Ahmed Ali
ان پر سیاہی چھا رہی ہو گی

Blackness overcoming them.
Arberry
o'erspread with darkness --
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ ﴿42﴾
Ahmed Ali
یہی لوگ ہیں منکر نافرمان

It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners.
Arberry
those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines.
