بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ ٱتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًۭا ﴿1﴾

اے نبی الله سے ڈر اور کافروں اور منافقوں کا کہا نہ مان بے شک الله جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے

O Herald of the Hidden (the Prophet), continue to fear Allah and never listen to the disbelievers and the hypocrites; indeed Allah is All Knowing, Wise.
Arberry
O Prophet, fear God, and obey not the unbelievers and the hypocrites. God is All-knowing, All-wise.
وَٱتَّبِعْ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًۭا ﴿2﴾

اور اس کی تابعداری کر جو تیرے رب کی طرف سے تیری طرف بھیجا گیا ہے بے شک الله تمہارے کاموں سے خبردار ہے

And keep following what is sent down to you from your Lord; O people! Indeed Allah is seeing your deeds.
Arberry
And follow what is revealed to thee from thy Lord; surely God is aware of the things you do.
وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًۭا ﴿3﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور الله پر بھروسہ کر اور الله ہی کارساز کافی ہے

And trust Allah; and Allah is Sufficient as a Trustee.
Arberry
And put thy trust in God; God suffices as a guardian.
مَّا جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍۢ مِّن قَلْبَيْنِ فِى جَوْفِهِۦ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَزْوَٰجَكُمُ ٱلَّٰٓـِٔى تُظَٰهِرُونَ مِنْهُنَّ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَدْعِيَآءَكُمْ أَبْنَآءَكُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ قَوْلُكُم بِأَفْوَٰهِكُمْ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ يَقُولُ ٱلْحَقَّ وَهُوَ يَهْدِى ٱلسَّبِيلَ ﴿4﴾

الله نے کسی شخص کے سینہ میں دو دل نہیں بنائے اور نہ الله نے تمہاری ان بیویوں کوجن سے تم اظہار کرتے ہو تمہاری ماں بنایا ہے اور نہ تمہارے منہ بولے بیٹوں کو تمہارا بیٹا بنایا ہے یہ تمہارے منہ کی بات ہے اور الله سچ فرماتا ہے اور وہی سیدھا راستہ بتاتا ہے

Allah has not kept two hearts in the body of any man; nor has He made them your mothers those wives of yours, whom you declare to be your mothers; nor has He made them your sons, whom you have adopted; this is the statement of your mouths; and Allah proclaims the truth and it is He Who shows the path.
Arberry
God has not assigned to any man two hearts within his breast; nor has He made your wives, when you divorce, saying, 'Be as my mother's back,' truly your mothers, neither has He made your adopted sons your sons in fact. That is your own saying, the words of your mouths; but God speaks the truth, and guides on the way.
ٱدْعُوهُمْ لِءَابَآئِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ فَإِن لَّمْ تَعْلَمُوٓا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ فَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَمَوَٰلِيكُمْ ۚ وَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌۭ فِيمَآ أَخْطَأْتُم بِهِۦ وَلَٰكِن مَّا تَعَمَّدَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًا ﴿5﴾

انہیں ان کے اصلی باپوں کے نام سے پکارو الله کے ہاں یہی پورا انصاف ہے سواگر تمہیں ان کے باپ معلوم نہ ہوں تو تمہارے دینی بھائی اور دوست ہیں اور تمہیں اس میں بھول چوک ہو جائے تو تم پر کچھ گناہ نہیں لیکن وہ جو تم دل کے ارادہ سے کرو اور الله بخشنے والا مہربان ہے

Call them with their fathers’ names – this is more suitable in the sight of Allah; and if you do not know their fathers, then they are your brothers in the faith, (and your cousins as humans) and your friends; and there is no sin upon you for what you did unknowingly in the past – however it is a sin what you do with your heart’s intention; and Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Arberry
Call them after their true fathers; that is more equitable in the sight of God. If you know not who their fathers were, then they are your brothers in religion, and your clients. There is no fault in you if you make mistakes, but only in what your hearts premeditate. God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.
ٱلنَّبِىُّ أَوْلَىٰ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ ۖ وَأَزْوَٰجُهُۥٓ أُمَّهَٰتُهُمْ ۗ وَأُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَىٰ بِبَعْضٍۢ فِى كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُهَٰجِرِينَ إِلَّآ أَن تَفْعَلُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَوْلِيَآئِكُم مَّعْرُوفًۭا ۚ كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مَسْطُورًۭا ﴿6﴾

نبی مسلمانو ں کے معاملہ میں ان سے بھی زيادہ دخل دینے کا حقدار ہے اور اس کی بیویاں ان کی مائیں ہیں اور رشتہ دار الله کی کتاب میں ایک دوسرے سے زیادہ تعلق رکھتے ہیں بہ نسبت دوسرے مومنین اور مہاجرین کے مگر یہ کہ تم اپنے دوستوں سے کچھ سلوک کرنا چاہو یہ بات لوح محفوظ میں لکھی ہوئی ہے

The Prophet is closer to the Muslims than their own lives, and his wives are their mothers; and the relatives are closer to each other in the Book of Allah, than other Muslims and immigrants, except that you may be kind towards your friends; this is written in the Book.
Arberry
The Prophet is nearer to the believers than their selves; his wives are their mothers. Those who are bound by blood are nearer to one another in the Book of God than the believers and the emigrants; nevertheless you should act towards your friends honourably; that stands inscribed in the Book.
وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ مِيثَٰقَهُمْ وَمِنكَ وَمِن نُّوحٍۢ وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَى ٱبْنِ مَرْيَمَ ۖ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظًۭا ﴿7﴾

اور جب ہم نے نبیوں سے عہد لیا اورآپ سے اورنوح اور ابراھیم اور موسیٰ اور مریم کے بیٹے عیسیٰ سے بھی اور ان سے ہم نے پکا عہد لیا تھا

And remember O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) when We took a covenant from the Prophets – and from you – and from Nooh, and Ibrahim, and Moosa, and Eisa the son of Maryam; and We took a firm covenant from them.
Arberry
And when We took compact from the Prophets, and from thee, and from Noah, and Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, Mary's son; We took from them a solemn compact,
لِّيَسْـَٔلَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ عَن صِدْقِهِمْ ۚ وَأَعَدَّ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا ﴿8﴾

تاکہ سچوں سے ان کے سچ کا حال دریافت کرے اور کافروں کے لیے دردناک عذاب تیار کیا ہے

So that He may question the truthful regarding their truth; and He has kept prepared a painful punishment for the disbelievers.
Arberry
that He might question the truthful concerning their truthfulness; and He has prepared for the unbelievers a painful chastisement.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَآءَتْكُمْ جُنُودٌۭ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًۭا وَجُنُودًۭا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرًا ﴿9﴾

اے ایمان والو! الله کے احسان کو یاد کرو جو تم پر ہوا جب تم پر کئی لشکر چڑھ آئے پھر ہم نے ان پر ایک آندھی بھیجی اور وہ لشکر بھیجے جنہیں تم نے نہیں دیکھا اورجو کچھ تم کر رہے تھے الله دیکھ رہا تھا

O People who believe! Remember the favour of Allah upon you when some armies came against you, so We sent against them a windstorm and the armies you could not see; and Allah sees your deeds.
Arberry
O believers, remember God's blessing upon you when hosts came against you, and We loosed against them a wind, and hosts you saw not; and God sees the things you do.
إِذْ جَآءُوكُم مِّن فَوْقِكُمْ وَمِنْ أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْ وَإِذْ زَاغَتِ ٱلْأَبْصَٰرُ وَبَلَغَتِ ٱلْقُلُوبُ ٱلْحَنَاجِرَ وَتَظُنُّونَ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلظُّنُونَا۠ ﴿10﴾

جب وہ لوگ تم پر تمہارے اوپر کی طرف اورنیچے کی طرف سے چڑھ آئے اورجب آنکھیں پتھرا گئی تھیں اور کلیجے منہ کو آنے لگے تھے اورتم الله کے ساتھ طرح طرح کے گمان کر رہے تھے

When the disbelievers came upon you from above you and from below you, and when the eyes became fixed in stare and the hearts came up to the throats, and you were imagining matters regarding Allah.

When they came against you from above you and from below you, and when your eyes swerved and your hearts reached your throats, while you thought thoughts about God;
هُنَالِكَ ٱبْتُلِىَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَزُلْزِلُوا۟ زِلْزَالًۭا شَدِيدًۭا ﴿11﴾

اس موقع پر ایماندار آزمائے گئے اور سخت ہلا دیے گئے

That proved be the testing ground for the Muslims, and they were subjected to a severe shake.
Arberry
there it was that the believers were tried, and shaken most mightily.
وَإِذْ يَقُولُ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌۭ مَّا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ إِلَّا غُرُورًۭا ﴿12﴾

اورجب کہ منافق اورجن کے دلوں میں شک تھا کہنے لگے کہ الله اور اس کے رسول نے جو ہم سے وعدہ کیا تھا صرف دھوکا ہی تھا

And when the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease, began saying, “Allah and His Noble Messenger have not given us a promise except one of deceit.”
Arberry
And when tile hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is sickness, said, 'God and His Messenger promised us only delusion.'
وَإِذْ قَالَت طَّآئِفَةٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ يَٰٓأَهْلَ يَثْرِبَ لَا مُقَامَ لَكُمْ فَٱرْجِعُوا۟ ۚ وَيَسْتَـْٔذِنُ فَرِيقٌۭ مِّنْهُمُ ٱلنَّبِىَّ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ بُيُوتَنَا عَوْرَةٌۭ وَمَا هِىَ بِعَوْرَةٍ ۖ إِن يُرِيدُونَ إِلَّا فِرَارًۭا ﴿13﴾

اورجب کہ ان میں سے ایک جماعت کہنے لگی اے مدینہ والو! تمہارے لیے ٹھیرنے کا موقع نہیں سو لوٹ چلو اور ان میں سے کچھ لوگ نبی سے رخصت مانگنے لگے کہنے لگے کہ ہمارے گھر اکیلے ہیں اور حالانکہ وہ اکیلے نہ تھے وہ صرف بھاگنا چاہتے تھے

And when a group among said, “O people of Medinah! This is no place of stay for you, therefore go back to your homes”; and a group among them sought exemption from the Prophet by saying, “Our homes are unprotected” whereas their homes were not unprotected; they willed nothing except to flee.
Arberry
And when a party of them said, 'O people of Yathrib, there is no abiding here for you, therefore return!' And a part of them Were asking leave of the Prophet, saying, 'Our houses are exposed'; yet they were not exposed; they desired only to flee.
وَلَوْ دُخِلَتْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَقْطَارِهَا ثُمَّ سُئِلُوا۟ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ لَءَاتَوْهَا وَمَا تَلَبَّثُوا۟ بِهَآ إِلَّا يَسِيرًۭا ﴿14﴾

اور اگر کسی طرف سے کوئی ان پر گُھس آتا پھر ان سے فساد کی درخواست کی جاتی تو فساد پر آمادہ ہو جاتے اور دیر نہ کرتے مگر بہت ہی کم

And if the armies had come upon them from the outskirts of Medinah and demanded disbelief from them, they would certainly have given them their demand and would not have hesitated in it except a little.
Arberry
And if entrance had been forced against them from those quarters, and then they had been asked to apostatise, they would have done so, and but tarried about it briefly.
وَلَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ عَٰهَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مِن قَبْلُ لَا يُوَلُّونَ ٱلْأَدْبَٰرَ ۚ وَكَانَ عَهْدُ ٱللَّهِ مَسْـُٔولًۭا ﴿15﴾

حالانکہ اس سے پہلے الله سے عہد کر چکے تھے کہ پیٹھ نہ پھیریں گے اور الله سے عہد کرنے کی باز پرس ہوگی

And indeed before this they had agreed with Allah that they would not turn their backs; and the covenant of Allah will be questioned about.
Arberry
Yet they had made covenant with God before that, that they would not turn their backs; and covenants with God shall be questioned of
قُل لَّن يَنفَعَكُمُ ٱلْفِرَارُ إِن فَرَرْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْمَوْتِ أَوِ ٱلْقَتْلِ وَإِذًۭا لَّا تُمَتَّعُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا ﴿16﴾

کہہ دو اگر تم موت یا قتل سے بھاگو گے تو تمہیں کوئی فائدہ نہیں ہوگا اور اس وقت سوائے تھوڑے دنوں کے نفع نہیں اٹھاؤ گے

Proclaim, “Fleeing will never benefit you if you flee from death or killing, and even then you will not be given the usage of this world except a little.”
Arberry
Say: 'Flight will not profit you, if you flee from death or slaying; you will be given enjoyment of days then but little.'
قُلْ مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يَعْصِمُكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ سُوٓءًا أَوْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ رَحْمَةًۭ ۚ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيًّۭا وَلَا نَصِيرًۭا ﴿17﴾

کہہ دو کون ہے جو تمہیں الله سے بچا سکے اگر وہ تمہارے ساتھ برائی کرنا چاہے یا تم پر مہربانی کرنا چاہے اور الله کے سوا نہ کوئی اپنا حمایتی پائیں گے اور نہ کوئی مددگار

Say, “Who is he who can avert the command of Allah from you, if He wills harm for you or wills to have mercy upon you?” And other than Allah, they will not find any friend or supporter.
Arberry
Say: 'Who is he that shall defend you from God, if lie desires evil for you, or desires mercy for you?' They shall find for themselves, apart from God, neither protector nor helper.
۞ قَدْ يَعْلَمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُعَوِّقِينَ مِنكُمْ وَٱلْقَآئِلِينَ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ هَلُمَّ إِلَيْنَا ۖ وَلَا يَأْتُونَ ٱلْبَأْسَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا ﴿18﴾

تحقیق الله تم میں سے روکنے والوں کو جانتاہے اور جو اپنے بھائیوں سے کہتے ہیں کہ ہمارے پاس آجاؤ اورلڑائی میں بہت ہی کم آتے ہیں

Indeed Allah knows those among you who prevent others from the holy war, and those who say to their brothers, “Come towards us”; and they do not come to fight, except a few.
Arberry
God would surely know those of you who hinder, and those who say to their brothers, 'Come to us,' and come to battle but little,
أَشِحَّةً عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ ٱلْخَوْفُ رَأَيْتَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ تَدُورُ أَعْيُنُهُمْ كَٱلَّذِى يُغْشَىٰ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۖ فَإِذَا ذَهَبَ ٱلْخَوْفُ سَلَقُوكُم بِأَلْسِنَةٍ حِدَادٍ أَشِحَّةً عَلَى ٱلْخَيْرِ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ فَأَحْبَطَ ٱللَّهُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرًۭا ﴿19﴾

تم سے ہمدردی کرتے ہوئے پھر جب ڈر کا وقت آجائے تو تُو انھیں دیکھے گا کہ تیری طرف دیکھتے ہیں ان کی آنکھیں پھرتی ہیں جیسے کسی پر موت کی بے ہوشی آئے پھر جب ڈر جاتا رہے تو تمہیں تیز زبانوں سے طعنہ دیتے ہیں مال کے لالچی ہیں یہ لوگ ایمان نہیں لائے تو الله نے ان کے تمام اعمال ضائع کر دیے اور یہ بات الله پر بالکل آسان ہے

They reduce the help towards you; so when a fearful time comes, you will observe them looking at you with eyes rolling like one enveloped by death; then when the time of fear is over, they begin slandering you with sharp tongues in their greed for the war booty; they have not accepted faith, therefore Allah has nullified their deeds; and this is easy for Allah.
Arberry
being niggardly towards you. When fear comes upon them, thou seest them looking at thee, their eyes rolling like one who swoons of death; but when the fear departs, they flay you with sharp tongues, being niggardly to possess the good things. Those have never believed; God has made their works to fail; and that is easy for God.
يَحْسَبُونَ ٱلْأَحْزَابَ لَمْ يَذْهَبُوا۟ ۖ وَإِن يَأْتِ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ يَوَدُّوا۟ لَوْ أَنَّهُم بَادُونَ فِى ٱلْأَعْرَابِ يَسْـَٔلُونَ عَنْ أَنۢبَآئِكُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ فِيكُم مَّا قَٰتَلُوٓا۟ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا ﴿20﴾

خیال کرتے ہیں کہ فوجیں نہیں گئیں اور اگر فوجیں آجائیں تو آرزوکریں کہ کاش ہم باہر گاؤں میں جا رہیں تمہاری خبریں پوچھا کریں اور اگر تم میں بھی رہیں تو بہت ہی کم لڑیں

They assume that the armies of the disbelievers have not gone away; and were the armies to come again, their wish would be to go out to the villages seeking information about you; and were they to stay among you even then they would not fight, except a few.
Arberry
They think the Confederates have not departed; and if the Confederates come, they will wish that they were desert-dwellers among the Bedoums asking for news of you. If they were among you, they would fight but little.
لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِى رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌۭ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلْءَاخِرَ وَذَكَرَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًۭا ﴿21﴾

البتہ تمہارے لیے رسول الله میں اچھا نمونہ ہے جو الله اور قیامت کی امید رکھتا ہے اور الله کو بہت یاد کرتا ہے

Indeed following the Noble Messenger of Allah is better for you – for one who is confident of Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much.
Arberry
You have had a good example in God's Messenger for whosoever hopes for God and the Last Day, and remembers God oft.
وَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلْأَحْزَابَ قَالُوا۟ هَٰذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَصَدَقَ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ ۚ وَمَا زَادَهُمْ إِلَّآ إِيمَٰنًۭا وَتَسْلِيمًۭا ﴿22﴾

اور جب مومنوں نے فوجوں کو دیکھا تو کہا یہ وہ ہے جس کا ہم سے الله اور اس کے رسول نے وعدہ کیا تھا اور الله اور اس کے رسول نے سچ کہا تھا اور اس سے ان کے ایمان اور فرمانبرداری میں ترقی ہو گئی

And when the Muslims saw the armies, they said, “This is what Allah and His Noble Messenger promised us, and Allah and His Noble Messenger have spoken the truth”; and it did not increase anything for them but faith and acceptance of Allah’s will.

When the believers saw the Confederates they said, 'This is what God and His Messenger promised us, and God and His Messenger have spoken truly.' And it only increased them in faith and surrender.
مِّنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌۭ صَدَقُوا۟ مَا عَٰهَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ ۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّن قَضَىٰ نَحْبَهُۥ وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنتَظِرُ ۖ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا۟ تَبْدِيلًۭا ﴿23﴾

ایمان والوں میں سے ایسے آدمی بھی ہیں جنہوں نے الله سے جو عہد کیا تھا اسے سچ کر دکھایا پھر ان میں سے بعض تو اپنا کام پورا کر چکے اور بعض منتظر ہیں اور عہد میں کوئی تبدیلی نہیں کی

Among the Muslims are the men who have proved true what they had covenanted with Allah; so among them is one who has already fulfilled his vow, and among them is one still waiting; and they have not changed a bit.

Among the believers are men who were true to their covenant with God; some of them have fulfilled their vow by death, and some are still awaiting, and they have not changed in the least;
لِّيَجْزِىَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ بِصِدْقِهِمْ وَيُعَذِّبَ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ إِن شَآءَ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا ﴿24﴾

تاکہ الله سچوں کو ان کے سچ کا بدلہ دے اور اگر چاہے تو منافقوں کوعذاب دے یا ان کی توبہ قبول کرے بے شک الله بخشنے والا مہربان ہے

In order that Allah may reward the truthful for their truthfulness, and punish the hypocrites if He wills, or give them repentance; indeed Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Arberry
that God may recompense the truthful ones for their truthfulness, and chastise the hypocrites, if He will, or turn again unto them. Surely God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.
وَرَدَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِغَيْظِهِمْ لَمْ يَنَالُوا۟ خَيْرًۭا ۚ وَكَفَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلْقِتَالَ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ قَوِيًّا عَزِيزًۭا ﴿25﴾

اور الله نے کافروں کو ان کے غصہ میں بھرا ہوا لوٹایا انہیں کچھ بھی ہاتھ نہ آیا اور الله نے مسلمانوں کی لڑائی اپنے ذمہ لے لی اور الله طاقت ور غالب ہے

And Allah turned back the disbelievers in their hearts’ jealousy, gaining no good; and Allah sufficed the Muslims in their fight; and Allah is Almighty, Most Honourable.
Arberry
And God sent back those that were unbelievers in their rage, and they attained no good; God spared the believers of fighting. Surely God is All-strong, All-mighty.
وَأَنزَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَٰهَرُوهُم مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مِن صَيَاصِيهِمْ وَقَذَفَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعْبَ فَرِيقًۭا تَقْتُلُونَ وَتَأْسِرُونَ فَرِيقًۭا ﴿26﴾

اور جن جن اہل کتاب نے ان کی مدد ی تھی انہیں ان کے قلعوں سے نیچے اتار دیا اور ان کے دلوں میں خوف ڈال دیا بعض کو تم قتل کرنے لگے اور بعض کو قید کر لیا

And He brought down from their forts, the People given the Book(s) who had supported them, and instilled awe into their hearts – you slay a group among them and another group you make captive.

And He brought down those of the People of the Book who supported them from their fortresses and cast terror in their hearts; some you slew, some you made captive.
وَأَوْرَثَكُمْ أَرْضَهُمْ وَدِيَٰرَهُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلَهُمْ وَأَرْضًۭا لَّمْ تَطَـُٔوهَا ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرًۭا ﴿27﴾

اور ان کی زمین اوران کے گھروں اور ان کےمالوں کا تمہیں مالک بنا دیا اور زمین کا جس پر تم نے کبھی قدم نہیں رکھا تھا اور الله ہر چیز پر قادر ہے

And He bequeathed you their lands and their houses and their wealth, and land that you have not yet set foot upon; and Allah is Able to do all things.
Arberry
And He bequeathed upon you their lands, their habitations, and their possessions, and a land you never trod. God is powerful over everything.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ قُل لِّأَزْوَٰجِكَ إِن كُنتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا فَتَعَالَيْنَ أُمَتِّعْكُنَّ وَأُسَرِّحْكُنَّ سَرَاحًۭا جَمِيلًۭا ﴿28﴾

اے نبی اپنی بیویوں سے کہہ دو اگر تمہیں دنیا کی زندگی اور اس کی آرائش منظور ہے تو آؤ میں تمہیں کچھ دے دلا کر اچھی طرح سے رخصت کر دوں

O Herald of the Hidden! Say to your wives, “If you desire the worldly life and its adornment – therefore come, I shall give you wealth and a befitting release!”
Arberry
O Prophet, say to thy wives: 'If you desire the present life and its adornment, come now, I will make you provision, and set you free with kindliness.
وَإِن كُنتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَٱلدَّارَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَعَدَّ لِلْمُحْسِنَٰتِ مِنكُنَّ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًۭا ﴿29﴾

اور اگر تم الله اور اس کے رسول اور آخرت کو چاہتی ہو تو الله نے تم میں سے نیک بختوں کے لیے بڑا اجر تیار کیا ہے

“And if you desire Allah and His Noble Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter – then indeed Allah has kept prepared an immense reward for the virtuous among you.”
Arberry
But if you desire God and His Messenger and the Last Abode, surely God has prepared for those amongst you such as do good a mighty wage.
يَٰنِسَآءَ ٱلنَّبِىِّ مَن يَأْتِ مِنكُنَّ بِفَٰحِشَةٍۢ مُّبَيِّنَةٍۢ يُضَٰعَفْ لَهَا ٱلْعَذَابُ ضِعْفَيْنِ ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرًۭا ﴿30﴾

اے نبی کی بیویو تم میں سے جو کوئی کھلی ہوئی بدکاری کرے تو اسے دگنا عذاب دیا جائے گا اور یہ الله پر آسان ہے

O the wives of the Prophet! If any among you dares to commit an act contrary to decency, for her will be double the punishment of others; and this is easy for Allah.
Arberry
Wives of the Prophet, whosoever among you commits a flagrant indecency, for her the chastisement shall be doubled; that is easy for God.
۞ وَمَن يَقْنُتْ مِنكُنَّ لِلَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتَعْمَلْ صَٰلِحًۭا نُّؤْتِهَآ أَجْرَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهَا رِزْقًۭا كَرِيمًۭا ﴿31﴾

اور جو تم میں سے الله اور اس کےرسول کی فرمانبرداری کرے گی اور نیک کام کرے گی تو ہم اسے اس کا دہرااجر دیں گے اور ہم نے اس کے لیے عزت کا رزق بھی تیار کر رکھا ہے

And whoever among you remains obedient towards Allah and His Noble Messenger and does good deeds – We shall give her double the reward of others, and have kept prepared for her an honourable sustenance.
Arberry
But whosoever of you is obedient to God and His Messenger, and does righteousness, We shall pay her her wage twice over; We have prepared for her a generous provision.
يَٰنِسَآءَ ٱلنَّبِىِّ لَسْتُنَّ كَأَحَدٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ ۚ إِنِ ٱتَّقَيْتُنَّ فَلَا تَخْضَعْنَ بِٱلْقَوْلِ فَيَطْمَعَ ٱلَّذِى فِى قَلْبِهِۦ مَرَضٌۭ وَقُلْنَ قَوْلًۭا مَّعْرُوفًۭا ﴿32﴾

اے نبی کی بیویو تم معمولی عورتوں کی طرح نہیں ہو اگر تم الله سے ڈرتی ر ہو اور دبی زبان سے بات نہ کہو کیونکہ جس کے دل میں مرض ہے وہ طمع کرے گا اور بات معقول کہو

O the wives of the Prophet! You are not like any other women – if you really fear Allah, do not speak softly lest the one in whose heart is a disease have any inclination, and speak fairly.
Arberry
Wives of the Prophet, you are not as other women. If you are godfearing, be not abject in your speech, so that he in whose heart is sickness may be lustful; but speak honourable words.
وَقَرْنَ فِى بُيُوتِكُنَّ وَلَا تَبَرَّجْنَ تَبَرُّجَ ٱلْجَٰهِلِيَّةِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَأَقِمْنَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتِينَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَطِعْنَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنكُمُ ٱلرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ ٱلْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًۭا ﴿33﴾

اور اپنے گھروں میں بیٹھی رہو اور گزشتہ زمانہ جاہلیت کی طرح بناؤ سنگھار دکھاتی نہ پھرو اور نماز پڑھو اور زکواة دو اور الله اور اس کے رسول کی فرمانبرداری کرو الله یہی چاہتا ہے کہ اے اس گھر والو تم سے ناپاکی دور کرے اور تمہیں خوب پاک کرے

And remain in your houses and do not unveil yourselves like the unveiling prevalent in the times of ignorance, and keep the prayer established, and pay the charity, and obey Allah and His Noble Messenger; Allah only wills to remove all impurity from you, O the People of the Household, and by cleansing you make you utterly pure. (*The Holy Prophet’s household.)
Arberry
Remain in your houses; and display not your finery, as did the pagans of old. And perform the prayer, and pay the alms, and obey God and His Messenger. People of the House, God only desires to put away from you abomination and to cleanse you.
وَٱذْكُرْنَ مَا يُتْلَىٰ فِى بُيُوتِكُنَّ مِنْ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْحِكْمَةِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ لَطِيفًا خَبِيرًا ﴿34﴾

اور تمہارے گھروں میں جو الله کی آیتیں اور حکمت کی باتیں پڑھی جاتیں ہیں انہیں یاد رکھو بیشک الله رازدان خبردار ہے

And remember what is recited in your houses, from Allah’s verses and wisdom*; indeed Allah knows the minutest things, is All Aware. (The Holy Qur’an and the sayings- hadith – of the Holy Prophet.)
Arberry
And remember that which is recited in your houses of the signs of God and the Wisdom; God is All-subtle, All-aware.
إِنَّ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ وَٱلْمُسْلِمَٰتِ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَٱلْقَٰنِتِينَ وَٱلْقَٰنِتَٰتِ وَٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ وَٱلصَّٰدِقَٰتِ وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ وَٱلصَّٰبِرَٰتِ وَٱلْخَٰشِعِينَ وَٱلْخَٰشِعَٰتِ وَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ وَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقَٰتِ وَٱلصَّٰٓئِمِينَ وَٱلصَّٰٓئِمَٰتِ وَٱلْحَٰفِظِينَ فُرُوجَهُمْ وَٱلْحَٰفِظَٰتِ وَٱلذَّٰكِرِينَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًۭا وَٱلذَّٰكِرَٰتِ أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةًۭ وَأَجْرًا عَظِيمًۭا ﴿35﴾

بیشک الله نے مسلمان مردوں اور مسلمان عورتوں اور ایمان دار مردوں اور ایماندار عورتوں اور فرمانبردار مردوں اور فرمانبردارعورتوں اور سچے مردوں اور سچی عورتوں اور صبر کرنے والے مردوں اور صبر کرنے والی عورتوں اور عاجزی کرنے والے مردوں اور عاجزی کرنے والی عورتوں اور خیرات کرنے والے مردوں اور خیرات کرنے والی عورتوں اور روزہ دار مردوں اور روزدار عورتوں اور پاک دامن مردوں اور پاک دامن عورتوں اور الله کو بہت یاد کرنے والے مردوں اور بہت یاد کرنے والی عورتوں کے لیے بخشش اور بڑا اجر تیار کیا ہے

Indeed the Muslim men and Muslim women, and the believing men and the believing women, and the men who obey and the women who obey, and the truthful men and the truthful women, and the patient men and the patient women, and the humble men and the humble women, and charitable men and the charitable women, and the fasting men and the fasting women, and the men who guard their chastity and the women who guard their chastity, and the men who profusely remember Allah and the women who profusely remember Allah – for all of them, Allah has kept prepared forgiveness and an immense reward.

Men and women who have surrendered, believing men and believing women, obedient men and obedient women, truthful men and truthful women, enduring men and enduring women, humble men and humble women, men and women who give in charity, men who fast and women who fast, men and women who guard their private parts, men and women who remember God oft -- for them God has prepared forgiveness and a mighty wage.
وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍۢ وَلَا مُؤْمِنَةٍ إِذَا قَضَى ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ أَمْرًا أَن يَكُونَ لَهُمُ ٱلْخِيَرَةُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِمْ ۗ وَمَن يَعْصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلًۭا مُّبِينًۭا ﴿36﴾

اور کسی مومن مرد اور مومن عورت کو لائق نہیں کہ جب الله اور اس کا رسول کسی کام کا حکم دے تو انہیں اپنے کام میں اختیار باقی رہے اور جس نے الله اور اس کے رسول کی نافرمانی کی تو وہ صریح گمراہ ہوا

And no Muslim man or woman has any right in the affair, when Allah and His Noble Messenger have decreed a command regarding it; and whoever does not obey the command of Allah and His Noble Messenger, has indeed clearly gone very astray.
Arberry
It is not for any believer, man or woman, when God and His Messenger have decreed a matter, to have the choice in the affair. Whosoever disobeys God and His Messenger has gone astray into manifest error.
وَإِذْ تَقُولُ لِلَّذِىٓ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ زَوْجَكَ وَٱتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ وَتُخْفِى فِى نَفْسِكَ مَا ٱللَّهُ مُبْدِيهِ وَتَخْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ وَٱللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَن تَخْشَىٰهُ ۖ فَلَمَّا قَضَىٰ زَيْدٌۭ مِّنْهَا وَطَرًۭا زَوَّجْنَٰكَهَا لِكَىْ لَا يَكُونَ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَرَجٌۭ فِىٓ أَزْوَٰجِ أَدْعِيَآئِهِمْ إِذَا قَضَوْا۟ مِنْهُنَّ وَطَرًۭا ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ مَفْعُولًۭا ﴿37﴾

اور جب تو نے اس شخص سے کہا جس پر الله نے احسان کیا اور تو نے احسان کیا اپنی بیوی کو اپنے پاس رکھ الله سے ڈر اور تو اپنے دل میں ایک چیز چھپاتا تھا جسے الله ظاہر کرنے والا تھا اور تو لوگوں سے ڈرتا تھا حالانکہ الله زیادہ حق رکھتا ہے کہ تو اس سے ڈرے پھر جب زید اس سے حاجت پوری کر چکا تو ہم نے تجھ سے اس کا نکاح کر دیا تاکہ مسلمانوں پر ان کے منہ بولے بیٹوں کی بیویوں کے بارے میں کوئی گناہ نہ ہو جب کہ وہ ان سے حاجت پوری کر لیں اور الله کا حکم ہوکر رہنے والا ہے

And O dear Prophet, remember when you said to him upon whom Allah has bestowed favour and you had bestowed favour, “Keep your wife with you, and fear Allah”, and you kept in your heart what Allah willed to make known, and you feared criticism from the people; and Allah has more right that you should fear Him; so when Zaid became unconcerned with her, We gave her to you in marriage, so that there may be no sin upon believers in respect of the wives of their adopted sons when they have become unconcerned with them; and the command of Allah must be carried out.

When thou saidst to him whom God had blessed and thou hadst favoured, 'Keep thy wife to thyself, and fear God,' and thou wast concealing within thyself what God should reveal, fearing other men; and God has better right for thee to fear Him. So when Zaid had accomplished what he would of her, then We gave her in marriage to thee, so that there should not be any fault in the believers, touching the wives of their adopted sons, when they have accomplished what they would of them; and God's commandment must be performed.
مَّا كَانَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ مِنْ حَرَجٍۢ فِيمَا فَرَضَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُۥ ۖ سُنَّةَ ٱللَّهِ فِى ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ قَدَرًۭا مَّقْدُورًا ﴿38﴾

نبی پر اس بات میں کوئی گناہ نہیں ہے جو الله نے اس اس کے لیے مقرر کر دی ہے جیسا کہ الله کا پہلے لوگو ں میں دستور تھا اور الله کا کام اندازے پر مقرر کیا ہوا ہے

There is no blame upon the Prophet regarding the matter that Allah has decreed for him; it has been Allah’s tradition in those who passed before; and the command of Allah is a certain destiny.
Arberry
There is no fault in the Prophet, touching what God has ordained for him -- God's wont with those who passed away before; and God's commandment is doom decreed;
ٱلَّذِينَ يُبَلِّغُونَ رِسَٰلَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَخْشَوْنَهُۥ وَلَا يَخْشَوْنَ أَحَدًا إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ حَسِيبًۭا ﴿39﴾

جو لوگ الله کا پیغام پہنچاتے رہے اور الله سے ڈرتے رہے اور الله حساب لینے والا کافی ہے

Those who deliver the messages of Allah and fear Him, and do not fear anyone except Allah; and Allah is Sufficient to take account.
Arberry
who were delivering the Messages of God, and were fearing Him, and fearing not any one except Him; and God suffices as a reckoner.
مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَآ أَحَدٍۢ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلَٰكِن رَّسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًۭا ﴿40﴾

محمد تم میں سے کسی مرد کے باپ نہیں لیکن وہ الله کے رسول اور سب نبیوں کے خاتمے پر ہیں اور الله ہر بات جانتا ہے

Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) is not the father of any man among you – but he is the Noble Messenger of Allah and the Last of the Prophets*; and Allah knows all things. (* Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – is the Last Prophet. There can be no new Prophet after him).

Muhammad is not the father of any one of your men, but the Messenger of God, and the Seal of the Prophets; God has knowledge of everything.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ذِكْرًۭا كَثِيرًۭا ﴿41﴾

اے ایمان والو الله کو بہت یاد کرو

O People who Believe! Remember Allah profusely.
Arberry
O believers, remember God oft,
وَسَبِّحُوهُ بُكْرَةًۭ وَأَصِيلًا ﴿42﴾

اور اس کی صبح و شام پاکی بیان کرو
Ahmed Raza Khan
And proclaim His Purity, morning and evening.
Arberry
and give Him glory at the dawn and in the evening.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُصَلِّى عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتُهُۥ لِيُخْرِجَكُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ ۚ وَكَانَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَحِيمًۭا ﴿43﴾
Ahmed Ali
وہی ہے جو تم پر رحمت بھیجتا ہے اور اس کے فرشتے بھی تاکہ تمہیں اندھیروں سے روشنی کی طرف نکالے اور وہ ایمان والوں پر نہایت رحم والا ہے

It is He Who sends blessings upon you*, and so do His angels, so that He may bring you out from darkness into light; and He is Most Merciful upon the Muslims. (* Upon the companions of the Holy Prophet).
Arberry
It is He who blesses you, and His angels, to bring you forth from the shadows into the light. He is All-compassionate to the believers.
تَحِيَّتُهُمْ يَوْمَ يَلْقَوْنَهُۥ سَلَٰمٌۭ ۚ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًۭا كَرِيمًۭا ﴿44﴾

جس دن وہ اس سے ملیں گے ان کے لیے سلام کا تحفہ ہوگا اور ان کے لیے عزت کا اجر تیار کر رکھا ہے

For them the salutation upon their meeting* is “Peace”; and an honourable reward is kept prepared for them. (* Upon death / while entering Paradise / meeting with Allah).
Arberry
Their greeting, on the day when they shall meet Him, will be 'Peace!' And He has prepared for them a generous wage.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ شَٰهِدًۭا وَمُبَشِّرًۭا وَنَذِيرًۭا ﴿45﴾

اے نبی ہم نے آپ کو بلاشبہ گواہی دینے والا اور خوشخبری دینے والا اور ڈرانے والا بنا کر بھیجا ہے

O Herald of the Hidden! We have indeed sent you as an observing present witness and a Herald of glad tidings and warning.
Arberry
O Prophet, We have sent thee as a witness, and good tidings to bear and warning,
وَدَاعِيًا إِلَى ٱللَّهِ بِإِذْنِهِۦ وَسِرَاجًۭا مُّنِيرًۭا ﴿46﴾

اور الله کی طرف اس کے حکم سے بلانے اور چراغ روشن بنایا ہے

And as a caller towards Allah, by His command, and as a sun that enlightens. (The Holy Prophet is a light from Allah.)

calling unto God by His leave, and as a light-giving lamp.
وَبَشِّرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ فَضْلًۭا كَبِيرًۭا ﴿47﴾

اور ایمان والوں کو خوشخبری دے اس بات کی کہ ان کے لیے الله کی طرف سے بہت بڑا فضل ہے

And give glad tidings to the believers that for them is Allah’s extreme munificence.
Arberry
Give good tidings to the believers that there awaits them with God great bounty.
وَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَدَعْ أَذَىٰهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًۭا ﴿48﴾

اور کفار اور منافقین کا کہنا نہ مانیے اور ان کی ایذا رسانی کی پرواہ نہ کیجیے اور الله پر بھروسہ کیجیئے اور الله کارساز کافی ہے

And do not please the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and overlook the pain they cause and rely upon Allah; and Allah suffices as a Trustee.
Arberry
And obey not the unbelievers and the hypocrites; heed not their hurt, but put thy trust in God; God suffices as a guardian.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا نَكَحْتُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ طَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَمَسُّوهُنَّ فَمَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ عِدَّةٍۢ تَعْتَدُّونَهَا ۖ فَمَتِّعُوهُنَّ وَسَرِّحُوهُنَّ سَرَاحًۭا جَمِيلًۭا ﴿49﴾

اے ایمان والو جب تم مومن عورتوں سے نکاح کرو پھر انہیں طلاق دے دو اس سے پہلے کہ تم انہیں چھوو تو تمہارے لیے ان پر کوئی عدت نہیں ہے کہ تم ان کی گنتی پوری کرنے لگو سو انہیں کچھ فائدہ دو اور انہیں اچھی طرح سے رخصت کر دو

O People who Believe! If you marry Muslim women and divorce them without having touched them, so for you there is no waiting period for the women, which you may count; therefore give them some benefit and release them with a proper release.
Arberry
O believers, when you marry believing women and then divorce them before you touch them, you have no period to reckon against them; so make provision for them, and set them free with kindliness.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِنَّآ أَحْلَلْنَا لَكَ أَزْوَٰجَكَ ٱلَّٰتِىٓ ءَاتَيْتَ أُجُورَهُنَّ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ مِمَّآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمِّكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمَّٰتِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَالِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَٰلَٰتِكَ ٱلَّٰتِى هَاجَرْنَ مَعَكَ وَٱمْرَأَةًۭ مُّؤْمِنَةً إِن وَهَبَتْ نَفْسَهَا لِلنَّبِىِّ إِنْ أَرَادَ ٱلنَّبِىُّ أَن يَسْتَنكِحَهَا خَالِصَةًۭ لَّكَ مِن دُونِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۗ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا فَرَضْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِىٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُمْ لِكَيْلَا يَكُونَ عَلَيْكَ حَرَجٌۭ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا ﴿50﴾

اے نبی ہم نے آپ کے لیے آپ کی بیویاں حلال کر دیں جن کے آپ مہر ادا کر چکے ہیں اور وہ عورتیں جو تمہاری مملومکہ ہیں جو الله نے آپ کو غنیمت میں دلوادی ہیں اور آپ کے چچا کی بیٹیاں اور آپ کی پھوپھیوں کی بیٹیاں اور آپ کے ماموں کی بیٹیاں اور آپ کے خالاؤں کی بیٹیاں جنہوں نے آپ کے ساتھ ہجرت کی اور اس مسلمان عورت کو بھی جو بلاعوض اپنے کوپیغمبر کو دے دے بشرطیکہ پیغمبر اس کو نکاح میں لانا چاہے یہ خالص آپ کے لیے ہے نہ اور مسلمانوں کے لیے ہمیں معلوم ہے جو کچھ ہم نے مسلمانو ں پر ان کی بیویوں اور لونڈیوں کے بارے میں مقرر کیا ہے تاکہ آپ پر کوئی دِقت نہ رہے اور الله معاف کرنے والا مہربان ہے

O Herald of the Hidden! We have indeed made lawful for you the wives to whom you have paid their bridal money, and the bondwomen you possess whom Allah gave you as war booty, and the daughters of your paternal uncles, and the daughters of your paternal aunts, and the daughters of your maternal uncles, and the daughters of your maternal aunts, those who migrated with you; and the believing woman if she gifts her life to the Prophet, if the Prophet desires to take her in marriage; this is exclusively for you, not for your followers; We indeed know what We have enjoined upon the Muslims concerning their wives and the bondwomen they possess – this exclusivity for you is so that you may not have constraints; and Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Arberry
O Prophet, We have made lawful for thee thy wives whom thou hast given their wages and what thy right hand owns, spoils of war that God has given thee, and the daughters of thy uncles paternal and aunts paternal, thy uncles maternal and aunts maternal, who have emigrated with thee, and any woman believer, if she give herself to the Prophet and if the Prophet desire to take her in marriage, for thee exclusively, apart from the believers -- We know what We have imposed upon them touching their wives and what their right hands own -- that there may be no fault in thee; God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.
۞ تُرْجِى مَن تَشَآءُ مِنْهُنَّ وَتُـْٔوِىٓ إِلَيْكَ مَن تَشَآءُ ۖ وَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَيْتَ مِمَّنْ عَزَلْتَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَن تَقَرَّ أَعْيُنُهُنَّ وَلَا يَحْزَنَّ وَيَرْضَيْنَ بِمَآ ءَاتَيْتَهُنَّ كُلُّهُنَّ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَلِيمًۭا ﴿51﴾

آپ ان میں سے جسے چاہیں چھوڑ دیں اور جسے چاہیں اپنے پاس جگہ دیں اور ان میں سے جسے آپ چاہیں جنہیں آپ نے علیحدہ کر دیا تھا تو آپ پر کوئی گناہ نہیں یہ اس سے زیادہ قریب ہے کہ ان کی آنکھیں ٹھنڈی ہوں اور غمزدہ نہ ہو اور ان سب کو جو آپ دیں اس پر راضی ہوں اور جو کچھ تمہارے دلوں میں ہے الله جانتا ہے اورالله جاننے والا بردبار ہے

Put back in the order whom you wish among them and give your proximity to whomever you wish; and if you incline towards one whom you had set aside, there is no sin upon you in it; this command is closer to their eyes remaining soothed and not grieving, and all of them remaining happy with whatever you give them; and Allah knows what is in the hearts of you all; and Allah is All Knowing, Most Forbearing.
Arberry
Thou mayest put off whom thou wilt of them, and whom thou wilt thou mayest take to thee; and if thou seekest any thou hast set aside there is no fault in thee. So it is likelier they will be comforted, and not sorrow, and every one of them will be well-pleased with what thou givest her. God knows what is in your hearts; God is All-knowing, All-clement.
لَّا يَحِلُّ لَكَ ٱلنِّسَآءُ مِنۢ بَعْدُ وَلَآ أَن تَبَدَّلَ بِهِنَّ مِنْ أَزْوَٰجٍۢ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ حُسْنُهُنَّ إِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ رَّقِيبًۭا ﴿52﴾

اس کے بعد آپ کے لیے عورتیں حلال نہیں اور نہ یہ کہ آپ ان سےاورعورتیں تبدیل کریں اگر چہ آپ کو ان کا حسن پسند آئے مگر جو آپ کی مملوکہ ہوں اور الله ہر ایک چیز پر نگران ہے

Other women are not permitted for you after these, nor that you change them for other wives even if their beauty pleases you except the bondwomen whom you possess; and Allah is the Guardian over all things.
Arberry
Thereafter women are not lawful to thee, neither for thee to take other wives in exchange for them, though their beauty please thee, except what thy right hand owns; God is watchful over everything.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَدْخُلُوا۟ بُيُوتَ ٱلنَّبِىِّ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ إِلَىٰ طَعَامٍ غَيْرَ نَٰظِرِينَ إِنَىٰهُ وَلَٰكِنْ إِذَا دُعِيتُمْ فَٱدْخُلُوا۟ فَإِذَا طَعِمْتُمْ فَٱنتَشِرُوا۟ وَلَا مُسْتَـْٔنِسِينَ لِحَدِيثٍ ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكُمْ كَانَ يُؤْذِى ٱلنَّبِىَّ فَيَسْتَحْىِۦ مِنكُمْ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَسْتَحْىِۦ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ وَإِذَا سَأَلْتُمُوهُنَّ مَتَٰعًۭا فَسْـَٔلُوهُنَّ مِن وَرَآءِ حِجَابٍۢ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ أَطْهَرُ لِقُلُوبِكُمْ وَقُلُوبِهِنَّ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ أَن تُؤْذُوا۟ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَآ أَن تَنكِحُوٓا۟ أَزْوَٰجَهُۥ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦٓ أَبَدًا ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكُمْ كَانَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ عَظِيمًا ﴿53﴾

اے ایمان والو نبی کے گھروں میں داخل نہ ہو مگر اس وقت کہ تمہیں کھانے کےلئے اجازت دی جائے نہ اس کی تیاری کا انتظام کرتے ہوئے لیکن جب تمہیں بلایا جائے تب داخل ہو پھر جب تم کھا چکو تو اٹھ کر چلے جاؤ اور باتوں کے لیے جم کر نہ بیٹھو کیوں کہ اس سے نبی کو تکلیف پہنچتی ہے اور وہ تم سے شرم کرتا ہے اور حق بات کہنے سے الله شرم نہیں کرتا اور جب نبی کی بیویوں سے کوئی چیز مانگو تو پردہ کے باہر سے مانگا کرو اس میں تمہارے اوران کے دلوں کے لیے بہت پاکیزگی ہے اور تمہارے لیے جائز نہیں کہ تم رسول الله کو ایذا دو اور نہ یہ کہ تم اپ کی بیویوں سے آپ کے بعد کبھی بھی نکاح کرو بے شک یہ الله کےنزدیک بڑا گناہ ہے

O People who Believe! Do not enter the houses of the Prophet without permission, as when called for a meal but not to linger around waiting for it – and if you are invited then certainly present yourself and when you have eaten, disperse – not staying around delighting in conversation; indeed that was causing harassment to the Prophet, and he was having regard for you; and Allah does not shy in proclaiming the truth; and when you ask the wives of the Prophet for anything to use, ask for it from behind a curtain; this is purer for your hearts and for their hearts; and you have no right to trouble the Noble Messenger of Allah, nor ever marry any of his wives after him; indeed that is a very severe matter in the sight of Allah. (To honour the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him – is part of faith. To disrespect him is blasphemy.)
Arberry
O believers, enter not the houses of the Prophet, except leave is given you for a meal, without watching for its hour. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have had the meal, disperse, neither lingering for idle talk; that is hurtful to the Prophet, and he is ashamed before you; but God is not ashamed before the truth. And when you ask his wives for any object, ask them from behind a curtain; that is cleaner for your hearts and theirs. It is not for you to hurt God's Messenger, neither to marry his wives after him, ever; surely that would be, in God's sight, a monstrous thing.
إِن تُبْدُوا۟ شَيْـًٔا أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًۭا ﴿54﴾

اگر تم کوئی بات ظاہر کرو یا اسے چھپاؤ تو بے شک الله ہر چیز کو جاننے والا ہے

Whether you disclose a thing or keep it hidden – then indeed Allah knows all things.
Arberry
Whether you reveal anything, or whether you conceal it, surely God has knowledge of everything.
لَّا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِنَّ فِىٓ ءَابَآئِهِنَّ وَلَآ أَبْنَآئِهِنَّ وَلَآ إِخْوَٰنِهِنَّ وَلَآ أَبْنَآءِ إِخْوَٰنِهِنَّ وَلَآ أَبْنَآءِ أَخَوَٰتِهِنَّ وَلَا نِسَآئِهِنَّ وَلَا مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُنَّ ۗ وَٱتَّقِينَ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدًا ﴿55﴾

ان پر اپنے باپوں کے سامنے ہونے میں کوئی گناہ نہیں اور نہ اپنے بیٹوں کے اور نہ اپنے بھائیوں کے اور نہ اپنے بھتیجوں کے اورنہ اپنے بھانجوں کے اور نہ اپنی عورتوں کے اور نہ اپنے غلاموں کے اور الله سے ڈرتی رہو بے شک ہر چیز الله کے سامنے ہے

There is no sin upon your wives in (dealing with) their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons or women of their own religion, or their bondwomen; and O women, keep fearing Allah; indeed all things are present in front of Allah.
Arberry
There is no fault in the Prophet's wives touching their fathers, their sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, and what their right hands own. And fear you God; surely God is witness of everything.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ صَلُّوا۟ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا ﴿56﴾

بے شک الله اور اس کے فرشتے نبی پر درود بھیجتے ہیں اے ایمان والو تم بھی اسپر دورد اور سلام بھیجو

Indeed Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet; O People who Believe! Send blessings and abundant salutations upon him. (Everlasting peace and unlimited blessings be upon the Holy Prophet Mohammed.)

God and His angels bless the Prophet. O believers, do you also bless him, and pray him peace.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ لَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًۭا مُّهِينًۭا ﴿57﴾

جو لوگ الله اور اس کے رسول کو ایذا دیتے ہیں ان پر اللهنے دنیا اور آخرت میں لعنت کی ہے اور ان کے لیے ذلت کا عذاب تیار کر کھا ہے

Indeed those who trouble Allah and His Noble Messenger – upon them is Allah’s curse in the world and in the Hereafter, and Allah has kept prepared a disgraceful punishment for them. (To disrespect / trouble the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him – is blasphemy.)

Those who hurt God and His Messenger -- them God has cursed in the present world and the world to come, and has prepared for them a humbling chastisement.
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ بِغَيْرِ مَا ٱكْتَسَبُوا۟ فَقَدِ ٱحْتَمَلُوا۟ بُهْتَٰنًۭا وَإِثْمًۭا مُّبِينًۭا ﴿58﴾

اور جو ایمان دار مردوں اور عورتوں کو ناکردہ گناہوں پر ستاتے ہیں سو وہ اپنے سر بہتان اور صریح گناہ لیتے ہیں

And those who unnecessarily harass Muslim men and women, have burdened themselves with slander and open sin.
Arberry
And those who hurt believing men and believing women, without that they have earned it, have laid upon themselves calumny and manifest sin.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ قُل لِّأَزْوَٰجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَنِسَآءِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يُدْنِينَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِن جَلَٰبِيبِهِنَّ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَن يُعْرَفْنَ فَلَا يُؤْذَيْنَ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا ﴿59﴾

اے نبی اپنی بیویوں اور بیٹیوں اور مسلمانوں کی عورتوں سے کہہ دو کہ اپنے مونہوں پر نقاب ڈالا کریں یہ اس سے زیادہ قریب ہے کہ پہچانی جائیں پھر نہ ستائی جائیں اور الله بخشنے والا نہایت رحم والا ہے

O Prophet! Command your wives and your daughters and the women of the Muslims to cover their faces with a part of their cloaks; this is closer to their being recognised and not being harassed; and Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful. (It is incumbent upon women to cover themselves properly.)
Arberry
O Prophet, say to thy wives and daughters and the believing women, that they draw their veils close to them; so it is likelier they will be known, and not hurt. God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.
۞ لَّئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌۭ وَٱلْمُرْجِفُونَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ لَنُغْرِيَنَّكَ بِهِمْ ثُمَّ لَا يُجَاوِرُونَكَ فِيهَآ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا ﴿60﴾

اگر منافق اور وہ جن کے دلوں میں مرض ہے اور مدینہ میں غلط خبریں اڑانے والے باز نہ آئیں گے تو آپ کوہم ان کے پیچھے لگا دیں گے پھر وہ اس شہر میں تیرے پاس نہ ٹھیریں گے

If the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease, and the rumour mongers in Medinah do not desist, We shall then surely impel you against them, so then they will not remain your neighbours in Medinah except for a few days.
Arberry
Now; if the hypocrites do not give over, and those in whose hearts there is sickness and they that make commotion in the city, We shall assuredly urge thee against them and then they will be thy neighbours there only a little;
مَّلْعُونِينَ ۖ أَيْنَمَا ثُقِفُوٓا۟ أُخِذُوا۟ وَقُتِّلُوا۟ تَقْتِيلًۭا ﴿61﴾

مگر بہت کم لعنت کیے گئے ہیں جہاں کہیں پائیں جائیں گے پکڑے جائیں گے اور قتل کیے جائیں گے

Accursed – to be caught wherever found and to be slain thoroughly.
Arberry
cursed they shalt be, and wheresoever they are come upon they shall be seized and slaughtered all --
سُنَّةَ ٱللَّهِ فِى ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ ٱللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًۭا ﴿62﴾

یہی الله کا قانون ہے ان لوگو ں میں جو اس سے پہلے ہو گزر چکے ہیں اور آپ الله کے قانون میں کوئی تبدیلی ہرگز نہ پائیں گے

The tradition of Allah prevalent among those who passed away before; and you will never find the traditions of Allah changing.
Arberry
God's wont with those who passed away before; and thou shall find no changing the wont of God.
يَسْـَٔلُكَ ٱلنَّاسُ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ ۖ قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ تَكُونُ قَرِيبًا ﴿63﴾

آپ سے لوگ قیامت کے متعلق پوچھتے ہیں کہہ دو اس کا علم تو صرف الله ہی کو ہے اور اپ کو کیا خبر کہ شاید قیامت قریب ہی ہو

People ask you regarding the Last Day; proclaim, “Its knowledge is only with Allah; and what do you know, the Last Day may really be near!”

The people will question thee concerning the Hour. Say: 'The knowledge of it is only with God; what shall make thee know? Haply the Hour is nigh.'
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ سَعِيرًا ﴿64﴾

بے شک الله نے کافروں پر لعنت کی ہے اور ان کے لیے دوزخ تیار کر رکھا ہے

Allah has indeed cursed the disbelievers, and has kept prepared for them a blazing fire.

God has cursed the unbelievers, and prepared for them a Blaze,
خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۖ لَّا يَجِدُونَ وَلِيًّۭا وَلَا نَصِيرًۭا ﴿65﴾

وہ اس میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے نہ کوئی دوست پائیں گے اور نہ کوئی مددگار

In which they will remain forever; in it they will find neither a protector nor any supporter.
Arberry
therein to dwell for ever; they shall find neither protector nor helper.
يَوْمَ تُقَلَّبُ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِى ٱلنَّارِ يَقُولُونَ يَٰلَيْتَنَآ أَطَعْنَا ٱللَّهَ وَأَطَعْنَا ٱلرَّسُولَا۠ ﴿66﴾

جس دن ان کے منہ آگ میں الٹ دیے جائیں گے کہیں گے اے کاش ہم نے الله اور رسول کا کہا مانا ہوتا

On the day when their faces will be overturned being roasted inside the fire, they will say, “Alas – if only we had obeyed Allah and obeyed His Noble Messenger!”
Arberry
Upon the day when their faces are turned about in the Fire they shall say, 'Ah, would we had obeyed God and the Messenger!
وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّآ أَطَعْنَا سَادَتَنَا وَكُبَرَآءَنَا فَأَضَلُّونَا ٱلسَّبِيلَا۠ ﴿67﴾

اور کہیں گے اے ہمارے رب ہم نے اپنے سرداروں اوربڑوں کا کہا مانا سو انہوں نے ہمیں گمراہ کیا

And they will say, “Our Lord! We followed our chiefs and our elders – so they misled us from the path!”
Arberry
They shall say, 'Our Lord, we obeyed our chiefs and great ones, and they led us astray from the way.
رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِهِمْ ضِعْفَيْنِ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ وَٱلْعَنْهُمْ لَعْنًۭا كَبِيرًۭا ﴿68﴾

اے ہمارے رب انہیں دگنا عذاب دے اور ان پر بڑی لعنت کر

“Our Lord! Give them double the punishment of the fire and send upon them a mighty curse!”
Arberry
Our Lord, give them chastisement twofold, and curse them with a mighty curse!'
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاذَوْا۟ مُوسَىٰ فَبَرَّأَهُ ٱللَّهُ مِمَّا قَالُوا۟ ۚ وَكَانَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَجِيهًۭا ﴿69﴾

اے ایمان والو تم ان لوگو ں جیسے نہ ہوجاؤ جنہوں نے موسیٰ کو ستایا پھر الله نے موسیٰ کو ان کی باتوں سے بری کر دیا اور وہ الله کے نزدیک بڑی عزت والا تھا
Ahmed Raza Khan
O People who Believe! Do not be like the people who troubled Moosa – so Allah freed him from the allegations they had uttered; and Moosa is honourable in the sight of Allah.
Arberry
O believers, be not as those who hurt Moses, but God declared him quit of what they said, and he was high honoured with God.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًۭا سَدِيدًۭا ﴿70﴾

اے ایمان والو الله سے ڈرو اور ٹھیک بات کیا کرو

O People who Believe! Fear Allah, and speak rightly.
Arberry
O believers, fear God, and speak words hitting the mark,
يُصْلِحْ لَكُمْ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ ۗ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا ﴿71﴾

تاکہ وہ تمہارے اعمال کو درست کرے اور تمہارے گناہ معاف کر دے اور جس نے الله اور اس کے رسول کا کہنا مانا سو اس نے بڑی کامیابی حاصل کی

He will rectify your deeds for you and forgive you your sins; and whoever obeys Allah and His Noble Messenger, has indeed achieved a great success.
Arberry
and He will set right your deeds for you and will forgive you your sins. Whosoever obeys God and His Messenger has won a mighty triumph.
إِنَّا عَرَضْنَا ٱلْأَمَانَةَ عَلَى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱلْجِبَالِ فَأَبَيْنَ أَن يَحْمِلْنَهَا وَأَشْفَقْنَ مِنْهَا وَحَمَلَهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ ظَلُومًۭا جَهُولًۭا ﴿72﴾

ہم نے آسمانوں اور زمین اور پہاڑوں کے سامنے امانت پیش کی پھر انہوں نے اسکے اٹھانے سے انکار کر دیا اور اس سے ڈر گئے اور اسے انسان نے اٹھا لیا بے شک وہ بڑا ظالم بڑا نادان تھا

We indeed offered the trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, but they refused it and were afraid of it – and man accepted it; indeed he is one who puts himself into hardship, is extremely unwise.
Arberry
We offered the trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, but they refused to carry it and were afraid of it; and man carried it. Surely he is sinful, very foolish.
لِّيُعَذِّبَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَٱلْمُشْرِكَٰتِ وَيَتُوبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۢا ﴿73﴾

تاکہ الله منافق مردوں اور منافق عورتوں اورمشرک مردوں اورمشرک عورتوں کو عذاب دے اور مومن مردوں اورمومن عورتوں پر مہربانی کرے اور الله معاف کرنے والا مہربان ہے

In order that Allah may punish the hypocrite men, and the hypocrite women, and the polytheist men, and the polytheist women – and accept the repentance of believing men and believing women; and Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Arberry
That God may chastise the hypocrites, men and women alike, and the idolaters, men and women alike; and that God may turn again unto the believers, men and women alike. God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.
