بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ﴿1﴾
Ahmed Ali
اپنے رب کے نام سے پڑھیئے جس نے سب کو پیدا کیا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Read with the name of your Lord Who created,
Arberry
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created,
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ﴿2﴾
Ahmed Ali
انسان کو خون بستہ سے پیدا کیا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Created man from a clot.
Arberry
created Man of a blood-clot.
ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ ﴿3﴾
Ahmed Ali
پڑھیئے اور آپ کا رب سب سے بڑھ کر کرم والا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent,
Arberry
Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous,
ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ ﴿4﴾
Ahmed Ali
جس نے قلم سے سکھایا
Ahmed Raza Khan
The One Who taught to write with the pen.
Arberry
who taught by the Pen,
عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ﴿5﴾
Ahmed Ali
انسان کو سکھایا جو وہ نہ جانتا تھا
Ahmed Raza Khan
The One Who taught man all what he did not know.
Arberry
taught Man that he knew not.
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ ﴿6﴾
Ahmed Ali
ہرگز نہیں بے شک آدمی سرکش ہو جاتا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious.
Arberry
No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent,
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ ﴿7﴾
Ahmed Ali
جب کہ اپنے آپ کو غنی پاتا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
As he considers himself independent!
Arberry
for he thinks himself self-sufficient.
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ ﴿8﴾
Ahmed Ali
بے شک آپ کے رب ہی کی طرف لوٹ کر جانا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
Indeed towards your Lord only is the return.
Arberry
Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning.
أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ ﴿9﴾
Ahmed Ali
کیا آپ نے اس کو دیکھا جو منع کرتا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids –

What thinkest thou? He who forbids
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ ﴿10﴾
Ahmed Ali
ایک بندے کو جب کہ وہ نماز پڑھتا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
A bondman when he offers the prayer?
Arberry
a servant when he prays --
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ﴿11﴾
Ahmed Ali
بھلا دیکھو تو سہی اگر وہ راہ پر ہوتا
Ahmed Raza Khan
What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance,
Arberry
What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ ﴿12﴾
Ahmed Ali
یا پرہیز گاری سکھاتا
Ahmed Raza Khan
He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be!
Arberry
or bade to godfearing --
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ﴿13﴾
Ahmed Ali
بھلا دیکھو تو سہی اگر اس نے جھٹلایا اور منہ موڑ لیا
Ahmed Raza Khan
What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state!
Arberry
What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away -
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ ﴿14﴾
Ahmed Ali
تو کیا وہ نہیں جانتا کہ الله دیکھ رہا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
Did he not realise that Allah is watching?
Arberry
Did he not know that God sees?
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ ﴿15﴾
Ahmed Ali
ہرگزایسا نہیں چاہیئے اگر وہ باز نہ آیا تو ہم پیشانی کے بال پکڑ کر گھسیٹیں گے
Ahmed Raza Khan
Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock.
Arberry
No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock,
نَاصِيَةٍۢ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍۢ ﴿16﴾
Ahmed Ali
پیشانی جھوٹی خطا کار
Ahmed Raza Khan
A forelock that lies, is sinful.
Arberry
a lying, sinful forelock.
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ ﴿17﴾
Ahmed Ali
پس وہ اپنے مجلس والوں کو بلا لے
Ahmed Raza Khan
So let him now call his gang!
Arberry
So let him call on his concourse!
سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ ﴿18﴾
Ahmed Ali
ہم بھی مؤکلین دوزخ کو بلا لیں گے
Ahmed Raza Khan
We will now call the guards!
Arberry
We shall call on the guards of Hell.
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩ ﴿19﴾
Ahmed Ali
ہر گز ایسا نہیں چاہیئے آپ اس کا کہانہ مانیے اور سجدہ کیجیئے اور قرب حاصل کیجیئے
Ahmed Raza Khan
Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14)
Arberry
No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh.
