أَحَسِبَ ٱلنَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوٓا۟ أَن يَقُولُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ ﴿2﴾
Ahmed Ali
کیا لوگ خیال کرتے ہیں یہ کہنے سےکہ ہم ایمان لائے ہیں چھوڑ دیئے جائیں گے اور ان کی آزمائش نہیں کی جائے گی
Ahmed Raza Khan
Do men fancy that they will be left just upon their declaring, “We believe”, and they will not be tested?
Arberry
Do the people reckon that they will be left to say 'We believe,' and will not be tried?
وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا۟ وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ ﴿3﴾

اور جو لوگ ان سے پہلے گزر چکے ہیں ہم نے انہیں بھی آزمایا تھا سو الله انہیں ضرور معلوم کرے گا جو سچے ہیں اور ان کو بھی جو جھوٹے ہیں

We indeed tested those before them – so Allah will surely test the truthful, and will surely test the liars.
Arberry
We certainly tried those that were before them, and assuredly God knows those who speak truly, and assuredly He knows the liars.
أَمْ حَسِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن يَسْبِقُونَا ۚ سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ ﴿4﴾

کیا وہ لوگ جو برے کام کرتے ہیں یہ سمجھتے ہیں کہ ہمارے قابو سے نکل جائیں گے برا ہے جو فیصلہ کرتے ہیں

Or do they who commit evil deeds imagine that they can escape from Us? What an evil judgement they impose!
Arberry
Or do they reckon, those who do evil deeds, that they will outstrip Us? Ill they judge!
مَن كَانَ يَرْجُوا۟ لِقَآءَ ٱللَّهِ فَإِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ لَءَاتٍۢ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ﴿5﴾

جو شخص الله سے ملنے کی امید رکھتا ہو سو الله کا وعدہ آ رہا ہے اور وہ سننے والا جاننے والا ہے

Whoever expects to meet Allah – then indeed the time appointed by Allah will come; and He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing.
Arberry
Whoso looks to encounter God, God's term is coming; He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.
وَمَن جَٰهَدَ فَإِنَّمَا يُجَٰهِدُ لِنَفْسِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَنِىٌّ عَنِ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ﴿6﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور جو شخص کوشش کرتا ہے تو اپنے ہی بھلے کے لیے کرتا ہے بے شک الله سارے جہان سے بے نیاز ہے

And whoever strives in Allah's cause, strives only for his own benefit; indeed Allah is Independent of the entire creation.
Arberry
Whosoever struggles, struggles only to his own gain; surely God is All-sufficient nor needs any being.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَنُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَحْسَنَ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ ﴿7﴾

اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور نیک کام کیے ہم ان کے گناہوں کو ان سے دور کردیں گےاور انہیں ان کے اعمال کا بہت اچھا بدلہ دیں گے

And those who accepted faith and did good deeds – We will indeed relieve their sins and reward them for the best of their deeds.
Arberry
And those who believe, and do righteous deeds, We shall surely acquit them of their evil deeds, and shall recompense them the best of what they were doing.
وَوَصَّيْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ حُسْنًۭا ۖ وَإِن جَٰهَدَاكَ لِتُشْرِكَ بِى مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلْمٌۭ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَآ ۚ إِلَىَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿8﴾

اور ہم نے انسان کو اپنے ماں باپ کے ساتھ اچھا سلوک کرنے کا حکم دیا ہے اور اگر وہ تجھے اس بات پر مجبور کریں کہ تو میرے ساتھ اسے شریک بنائے جسے تو جانتا بھی نہیں تو ان کا کہنا نہ مان تم سب نے لوٹ کرمیرے ہاں ہی آنا ہے تب میں تمہیں بتا دوں گا جو کچھ تم کرتے تھے

And upon man We ordained kindness towards parents; and if they strive to make you ascribe a partner with Me, about which you do not have any knowledge, then do not obey them; towards Me only is your return and I will tell you what you used to do.
Arberry
We have charged man, that he be kind to his parents; but if they strive with thee to make thee associate with Me that whereof thou hast no knowledge, then do not obey them; unto Me you shall return, and I shall tell you what you were doing.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَنُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ فِى ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ ﴿9﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور اچھے کام کیے ہم انہیں ضرور نیک بندوں میں داخل کر یں گے

And those who accepted faith and did good deeds – We shall indeed include them among the virtuous.
Arberry
And those who believe, and do righteous deeds assuredly We shall admit them among the righteous.
وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَقُولُ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ فَإِذَآ أُوذِىَ فِى ٱللَّهِ جَعَلَ فِتْنَةَ ٱلنَّاسِ كَعَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَئِن جَآءَ نَصْرٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ لَيَقُولُنَّ إِنَّا كُنَّا مَعَكُمْ ۚ أَوَلَيْسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَعْلَمَ بِمَا فِى صُدُورِ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ﴿10﴾

اورکچھ ایسے لوگ بھی ہیں جو کہتے ہیں ہم الله پر ایمان لائے پھر جب انہیں الله کی راہ میں کوئی تکلیف پہنچتی ہے لوگوں کی تکلیف کو الله کے عذاب کے برابر سمجھتے ہیں اور اگر تیرے رب کی طرف سے مدد پہنچے تو کہتے ہیں ہم تو تمہارے ساتھ تھے اور کیا الله جہان والوں کے دلوں کی باتوں سے اچھی طرح واقف نہیں ہے

And some people say, “We believe in Allah” – so if they are afflicted with some adversity in Allah’s way, they consider the chaos created by men as the punishment from Allah; and if the help comes from your Lord, they will surely say, “Indeed we were with you”; does not Allah well know what is in the hearts of the entire creation?
Arberry
Some men there are who say, 'We believe in God,' but when such a man is hurt in God's cause, he makes the persecution of men as it were God's chastisement; then if help comes from thy Lord, he will say 'We were with you.' What, does not God know very well what is in the breasts of all beings?
وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ ﴿11﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور البتہ الله انہیں ضرور معلوم کرے گا جو ایمان لائے اور البتہ منافقوں کو بھی معلوم کرکے رہے گا

And indeed Allah will make known the believers, and indeed He will expose the hypocrites.
Arberry
God surely knows the believers, and He knows the hypocrites.
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ سَبِيلَنَا وَلْنَحْمِلْ خَطَٰيَٰكُمْ وَمَا هُم بِحَٰمِلِينَ مِنْ خَطَٰيَٰهُم مِّن شَىْءٍ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ ﴿12﴾

اور کافر ایمان والوں سے کہتے ہیں کہ تم ہمارے طریقہ پر چلو اور ہم تمہارے گناہ اٹھا لیں گے حالانکہ وہ ان کے گناہوں میں سے کچھ بھی اٹھانے والے نہیں بے شک وہ جھوٹے ہیں

And the disbelievers said to the Muslims, “Follow our path and we will bear your sins”; whereas they will not bear anything from their sins; they are indeed liars.
Arberry
The unbelievers say to the believers, 'Follow our path, and let us carry your offences'; yet they cannot carry anything, even of their own offences; they are truly liars.
وَلَيَحْمِلُنَّ أَثْقَالَهُمْ وَأَثْقَالًۭا مَّعَ أَثْقَالِهِمْ ۖ وَلَيُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ ﴿13﴾

اور البتہ اپنے بوجھ اٹھائیں گے اور اپنےبوجھ کے ساتھ اور کتنے بوجھ اور البتہ قیامت کےد ن ان سے ضرور پوچھا جائے گا ان باتو ں کے متعلق جو وہ بناتے تھے

And they will surely bear their own burdens and some other burdens along with their own; and they will undoubtedly be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they had fabricated.
Arberry
They shall certainly carry their loads, and other loads along with their loads, and upon the Day of Resurrection they shall surely be questioned concerning that they were forging.
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فَلَبِثَ فِيهِمْ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ إِلَّا خَمْسِينَ عَامًۭا فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلطُّوفَانُ وَهُمْ ظَٰلِمُونَ ﴿14﴾

اور ہم نے نوح کو اس کی قوم کی طرف بھیجا پھر وہ ان میں پچاس برس کم ہزار برس رہے پھر انہیں طوفان نے آ پکڑا اور وہ ظالم تھے

And indeed We sent Nooh to his people – he therefore stayed with them for a thousand years, less fifty; so the flood seized them, and they were unjust.
Arberry
Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, and he tarried among them a thousand years, all but fifty; so the Flood seized them, while they were evildoers.
فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَأَصْحَٰبَ ٱلسَّفِينَةِ وَجَعَلْنَٰهَآ ءَايَةًۭ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ﴿15﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھر ہم نے نوح کو اور کشتی والوں کو نجات دی اور ہم نے کشتی کو جہان والوں کے لیے نشانی بنا دیا
Ahmed Raza Khan
And We rescued him and the people aboard the ship, and made the ship a sign for the entire world.
Arberry
Yet We delivered him, and those who were in the ship, and appointed it for a sign unto all beings.
وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ ۖ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿16﴾

اور ابراھیم کو جب اس نے اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ الله کی عبادت کرو اور اس سے ڈرو اگر تم سمجھ رکھتے ہو تو تمہارے لیے یہی بہتر ہے

And (remember) Ibrahim – when he said to his people, “Worship Allah and fear Him; that is better for you, if you knew!”
Arberry
And Abraham, when he said to his people, 'Serve God, and fear Him; that is better for you, did you know.
إِنَّمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْثَٰنًۭا وَتَخْلُقُونَ إِفْكًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ لَكُمْ رِزْقًۭا فَٱبْتَغُوا۟ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرِّزْقَ وَٱعْبُدُوهُ وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ لَهُۥٓ ۖ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ ﴿17﴾

تم الله کے سوا بتوں ہی کی عبادت کرتے ہو اور جھوٹ بناتے ہو جنہیں تم الله کے سوا پوجتے ہو وہ تمہاری روزی کے مالک نہیں سو تم الله ہی سے روزی مانگو اور اسی کی عبادت کرو اوراسی کا شکر کرو اسی کے پاس لوٹائے جاؤ گے

“You worship only idols instead of Allah, and only forge a clear lie; indeed those whom you worship instead of Allah do not control your sustenance – therefore seek your sustenance from Allah, and worship Him, and be grateful to Him; it is towards Him that you will be returned.”
Arberry
You only serve, apart from God, idols and you create a calumny; those you serve, apart from God, have no power to provide for you. So seek after your provision with God, and serve Him, and be thankful to Him; unto Him you shall be returned.
وَإِن تُكَذِّبُوا۟ فَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أُمَمٌۭ مِّن قَبْلِكُمْ ۖ وَمَا عَلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ ﴿18﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور اگر تم جھٹلاؤ تو تم سے پہلے بہت سی جماعتیں جھٹلا چکی ہیں اور رسول کے ذمہ تو بس کھول کر پہنچا دینا ہی ہے

“And if you deny, then many nations have denied before you; and the Noble Messenger is not responsible except to plainly convey (the message).”
Arberry
'But if you cry me lies, nations cried lies before you; and it is only for the Messenger to deliver the Manifest Message.'
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ كَيْفَ يُبْدِئُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرٌۭ ﴿19﴾

کیا انہوں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ الله کس طرح پہلی دفعہ مخلوق کوپیدا کرتا ہے پھر اسے لوٹائے گا بے شک یہ الله پر آسان ہے

Have they not seen how Allah initiates the creation, then will create it again? Indeed that is easy for Allah.
Arberry
(Have they not seen how God originates creation, then brings it back again? Surely that is an easy matter for God.
قُلْ سِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ بَدَأَ ٱلْخَلْقَ ۚ ثُمَّ ٱللَّهُ يُنشِئُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌۭ ﴿20﴾

کہہ دو ملک میں چلو پھرو پھر دیکھو کہ اس نے کس طرح مخلوق کو پہلی دفعہ پیدا کیا پھر الله آخری دفعہ بھی پیدا کرے گا بےشک الله ہر چیز پر قادر ہے

Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “Travel in the land and see how He creates for the first time, then Allah brings forth the next development; indeed Allah is Able to do all things.”
Arberry
Say: Journey in the land, then behold how He originated creation; then God causes the second growth to grow; God is powerful over everything,
يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْحَمُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ تُقْلَبُونَ ﴿21﴾

جسے چاہے گا عذاب دے گا اور جس پر چاہے رحم کرے گا اور اسی کی طرف لوٹائے جاؤ گے

He punishes whomever He wills and has mercy upon whomever He wills; and towards Him only you are to return.
Arberry
chastising whom He will, and having mercy on whomsoever He will, and unto Him you shall be turned.
وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ ۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِىٍّۢ وَلَا نَصِيرٍۢ ﴿22﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور تم زمین اور آسمان میں عاجز نہیں کر سکتے اور الله کےسوا تمہارا کوئی دوست اور مددگار نہیں ہے

Neither can you escape (from His control) in the earth nor in the sky; and for you, other than Allah, there is neither a friend nor a supporter.
Arberry
You are not able to frustrate Him either in the earth or in heaven; and you have not, apart from God, either protector or helper.
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِقَآئِهِۦٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَئِسُوا۟ مِن رَّحْمَتِى وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ ﴿23﴾

اور جن لوگو ں نے الله کی آیتوں اور اس کے ملنے سے انکار کیا وہ میری رحمت سے نا امید ہو گئے ہیں اور ان کے لیے دردناک عذاب ہے

And those who did not believe in My signs and in meeting Me, are those who have no hope of My mercy, and for them is a painful punishment.
Arberry
And those who disbelieve in God's signs and the encounter with Him -- they despair of My mercy, and there awaits them a painful chastisement.)
فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ ٱقْتُلُوهُ أَوْ حَرِّقُوهُ فَأَنجَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍۢ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿24﴾

پھر اس کی قوم کا اس کے سوا اور کوئی جواب نہ تھا کہ اسے مار ڈالو یا جلا ڈالو پھر الله نے اسے آگ سے نجات دی بے شک اس میں ان کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں جو ایماندار ہیں

So his people could not answer him except to say, “Kill him or burn him” – so Allah rescued him from the fire; indeed in this are signs for people who believe.
Arberry
But the only answer of his people was that they said, 'Slay him, or burn him!' Then God delivered him from the fire; surely in that are signs for a people who believe.
وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا ٱتَّخَذْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْثَٰنًۭا مَّوَدَّةَ بَيْنِكُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ ثُمَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ يَكْفُرُ بَعْضُكُم بِبَعْضٍۢ وَيَلْعَنُ بَعْضُكُم بَعْضًۭا وَمَأْوَىٰكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّٰصِرِينَ ﴿25﴾
Ahmed Ali
او رکہا تم الله کو چھوڑ کر بتوں کو لیے بیٹھے ہو تمہاری آپس کی محبت دنیا کی زندگی میں ہے پھر قیامت کے دن ایک دوسرے کا انکار کرے گا اور ایک دوسرے پر لعنت کرے گا اور تمہارا ٹھکانہ آگ ہوگا اور تمہارے لیے کوئی بھی مددگار نہ ہوگا

And Ibrahim said, “You have chosen only idols instead of Allah, with whom your friendship is only in the life of this world; then on the Day of Resurrection you will deny and curse each other; and the destination for all of you is hell, and you do not have supporters.”
Arberry
And he said, 'You have only taken to yourselves idols, apart from God, as a mark of mutual love between you in the present life; then upon the Day of Resurrection you will deny one another, and you will curse one another, and your refuge will be the Fire, and you will have no helpers.'
۞ فَـَٔامَنَ لَهُۥ لُوطٌۭ ۘ وَقَالَ إِنِّى مُهَاجِرٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّىٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ﴿26﴾

پھر اس پر لوط ایمان لایا اور ابراھیم نے کہا بے شک میں اپنے رب کی طرف ہجرت کرنے والا ہوں بے شک وہ غالب حکمت والا ہے

So Lut believed in him; and Ibrahim said, “I migrate towards my Lord; indeed only He is the Almighty, the Wise.”
Arberry
But Lot believed him; and he said, 'I will flee to my Lord; He is the All-mighty, the All-wise.'
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِى ذُرِّيَّتِهِ ٱلنُّبُوَّةَ وَٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ أَجْرَهُۥ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ ﴿27﴾

اور ہم نے اسے اسحاق اور یعقوب عطا کیا اور اس کی نسل میں نبوت اور کتاب مقرر کردی اور ہم نے اسے اس کا بدلہ دنیا میں دیا اور وہ آخرت میں بھی البتہ نیکوں میں سے ہو گا

And We bestowed Ishaq and Yaqub to him, and kept the Prophethood and the Book among his descendants, and We gave him his reward in the world; and in the Hereafter he is indeed among those who deserve Our proximity.
Arberry
And We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and We appointed the Prophecy and the Book to be among his seed; We gave him his wage in this world, and in the world to come he shall be among the righteous.
وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُم بِهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ﴿28﴾

اور لوط کو بھیجا جب اس نے اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ تم وہ بے حیائی کرتے ہو جو تم سے پہلے کسی نے نہیں کی

And We rescued Lut when he said to his people, “You indeed commit the shameful; such that no one in the creation has ever done before you.”
Arberry
And Lot, when he said to his people 'Surely you commit such indecency as never any being in all the world committed before you.
أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ وَتَقْطَعُونَ ٱلسَّبِيلَ وَتَأْتُونَ فِى نَادِيكُمُ ٱلْمُنكَرَ ۖ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ ٱئْتِنَا بِعَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ ﴿29﴾

کیا تم مردوں کے پاس جاتے ہو اور تم ڈاکے ڈالتے ہو اور اپنی مجلس میں برا کام کرتے ہو پھر اس کی قوم کے پاس اس کے سوا کوئی جواب نہ تھا کہ تو ہم پر الله کا عذاب لے آ اگر تو سچا ہے

“What! You commit the immoral with males, and cut off the roads; and you speak evilly in your gatherings?” So his people had no answer except to say, “Bring the punishment of Allah upon us if you are truthful!”
Arberry
What, do you approach men, and cut the way, and commit in your assembly dishonour?' But the only answer of his people was that they said, 'Then bring us the chastisement of God, if thou speakest truly.'
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرْنِى عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ ﴿30﴾

کہا اے میرے رب ان شریر لوگو ں پر میری مدد کر

He submitted, “My Lord! Help me against these mischievous people.”
Arberry
He said, 'My Lord, help me against the people that work corruption.'
وَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ بِٱلْبُشْرَىٰ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مُهْلِكُوٓا۟ أَهْلِ هَٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ۖ إِنَّ أَهْلَهَا كَانُوا۟ ظَٰلِمِينَ ﴿31﴾

اور جب ہمارے بھیجے ہوئے ابراھیم کے پاس خوشخبری لے کر آئے کہنے لگے ہم اس بستی کے لوگوں کو ہلاک کرنے والے ہیں یہاں کے لوگ بڑے ظالم ہیں

And when Our sent angels came with glad tidings to Ibrahim, they said, “We will surely destroy the people of that town; indeed its inhabitants are unjust.”
Arberry
And when Our messengers came to Abraham with the good tidings, they said, 'We shall destroy the people of this city, for its people are evildoers.'
قَالَ إِنَّ فِيهَا لُوطًۭا ۚ قَالُوا۟ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن فِيهَا ۖ لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ كَانَتْ مِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ ﴿32﴾

کہا اس میں لوط بھی ہے کہنے لگے ہم خوب جانتے ہیں جو اس میں ہے ہم لوط اور اس کے کنبہ کو بچا لیں گے مگر اس کی بیوی وہ پیچھے رہ جانے والوں میں ہو گی

He said, "Lut is in it!”; they said, “We know very well who all are there; we shall rescue him and his family, except his wife; she is of those who will stay behind.”
Arberry
He said, 'Lot is in it.' They said, 'We know very well who is in it; assuredly We shall deliver him and his family, except his wife; she has become of those that tarry.'
وَلَمَّآ أَن جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوطًۭا سِىٓءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًۭا وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ ۖ إِنَّا مُنَجُّوكَ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَكَ كَانَتْ مِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ ﴿33﴾

اور جب ہمارے بھیجے ہوئے لوط کے پاس آئے تو اسے ان کا آنا برا معلوم ہوا اور تنگدل ہوئے فرشتوں نے کہا خوف نہ کر اور غم نہ کھا بے شک ہم تجھے اور تیرے کنبہ کو بچا لیں گے مگرتیری بیوی پیچھے رہنے والوں میں ہوگی

And when Our sent angels came to Lut, he was unhappy at their arrival and was depressed – and they said, “Do not fear or grieve; we will surely rescue you and your family, except your wife, who is of those who will stay behind.”
Arberry
When that Our messengers came to Lot he was troubled on their account and distressed for them; but they said, 'Fear not, neither sorrow, for surely we shall deliver thee and thy family, except thy wife; she has become of those that tarry.
إِنَّا مُنزِلُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَهْلِ هَٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ رِجْزًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْسُقُونَ ﴿34﴾

ہم ا س بستی والوں پر اس لیے کہ بدکاری کرتے رہے ہیں آسمان سے عذاب نازل کرنے والے ہیں

“We will indeed cause a punishment from the sky to descend upon the inhabitants of this town – the recompense of their disobedience.”
Arberry
We shall send down upon the people of this city wrath out of heaven for their ungodliness.'
وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَا مِنْهَآ ءَايَةًۢ بَيِّنَةًۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَعْقِلُونَ ﴿35﴾

اور ہم نے عقلمندوں کے لیے اس بستی کا نشان نظر آتا ہوا چھوڑ دیا

And We have undoubtedly kept a part of it as a clear sign for people of intellect.
Arberry
And indeed, We have left thereof a sign, a clear sign? unto a people who understand.
وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًۭا فَقَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱرْجُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلْءَاخِرَ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ ﴿36﴾

اور مدین کے پاس ان کے بھائی شعیب کو بھیجا پس کہا اے میری قوم! الله کی عبادت کرو اور قیامت کے دن کی امید رکھو اور ملک میں فساد نہ مچاؤ

And We sent towards Madyan, their fellowman Shuaib – he therefore said, “O my people! Worship Allah, and anticipate the Last Day, and do not roam the earth spreading turmoil.”
Arberry
And to Midian their brother Shuaib; he said, 'O my people, serve God, and look you for the Last Day; and do not mischief in the land, working corruption.'
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ فِى دَارِهِمْ جَٰثِمِينَ ﴿37﴾

سو انہوں نے اسےجھٹلایا تب انہیں زلزلہ نے آ پکڑا پھر وہ اپنے گھروں میں اوندھے پڑے رہ گئے

In response they denied him – thereupon the earthquake seized them – so at morning they remained lying flattened in their homes.
Arberry
But they cried lies to him; so the earthquake seized them, and morning found them in their habitation fallen prostrate.
وَعَادًۭا وَثَمُودَا۟ وَقَد تَّبَيَّنَ لَكُم مِّن مَّسَٰكِنِهِمْ ۖ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَكَانُوا۟ مُسْتَبْصِرِينَ ﴿38﴾

اور ہم نے عاد اور ثمود کو ہلاک کیا اور تمہیں ان کے کچھ مکانات بھی دکھائی دیتے ہیں اور شیطان نے ان کے اعمال انہیں آراستہ کر دکھائے اور انہیں راہ سے روک دیا حالانکہ وہ سمجھدار تھے

And We destroyed the A’ad and the Thamud, and you already know their dwellings; Satan made their deeds appear good to them and prevented them from the path, whereas they could perceive.
Arberry
And Ad, and Thamood -- it has become clear to you from their dwelling-places; and Satan decked out fair to them their works, and barred them from the way, though they saw clearly.
وَقَٰرُونَ وَفِرْعَوْنَ وَهَٰمَٰنَ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مُّوسَىٰ بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ سَٰبِقِينَ ﴿39﴾

اور قارون اور فرعون اور ہامان کو ہلاک کیا اور البتہ ان کے پاس موسیٰ نشانیاں بھی لے کر آئے تھے پھر انہوں نے ملک میں سرکشی کی اور وہ بھاگ کر نہ جا سکے

And (We destroyed) Qaroon, Firaun and Haman; and indeed Moosa came to them with clear signs, so they were arrogant in the land, and they could never escape from Our control.

And Korah, and Pharaoh, and Haman; Moses came to them with the clear signs, but they waxed proud in the earth, yet they outstripped Us not.
فَكُلًّا أَخَذْنَا بِذَنۢبِهِۦ ۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ حَاصِبًۭا وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ أَخَذَتْهُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ خَسَفْنَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ أَغْرَقْنَا ۚ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ ﴿40﴾

پھر ہم نے ہر ایک کو اس کے گناہ پر پکڑا پھر کسی پر تو ہم نے پتھروں کا مینہ بر سایا اور ان میں سے کسی کو کڑک نے آپکڑا اور کسی کو ان میں سے زمین میں دھنسا دیا اور کسی کو ان میں سے غرق کر دیا اور الله ایسا نہ تھا کہ ان پر ظلم کرے لیکن وہی اپنے اوپر ظلم کیا کرتے تھے

So We caught each one upon his sin; so among them is one upon whom We sent a shower of stones; and among them is one who was seized by the Scream; and among them is one whom We buried in the earth, and among them is one whom We drowned; it did not befit Allah’s Majesty to oppress them, but they were wronging themselves.

Each We seized for his sin; and of them against some We loosed a squall of pebbles and some were seized by the Cry, and some We made the earth to swallow, and some We drowned; God would never wrong them, but they wronged themselves.
مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْلِيَآءَ كَمَثَلِ ٱلْعَنكَبُوتِ ٱتَّخَذَتْ بَيْتًۭا ۖ وَإِنَّ أَوْهَنَ ٱلْبُيُوتِ لَبَيْتُ ٱلْعَنكَبُوتِ ۖ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿41﴾

ان لوگوں کی مثال جنہوں نے الله کے سوا حمایت بنا رکھے ہیں مکڑی کی سی مثال ہے جس نے گھر بنایا اور بے شک سب گھروں سے کمزور گھر مکڑی کا ہے کاش وہ جانتے

The example of those who choose masters other than Allah is like that of the spider; it makes the web its house; and indeed the weakest house of all is that of the spider; if only they knew.
Arberry
The likeness of those who have taken to them protectors, apart from God, is as the likeness of the spider that takes to itself a house; and surely the frailest of houses is the house of the spider, did they but know.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍۢ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ﴿42﴾

بےشک الله جانتا ہے جسے وہ اس کے سوا پکارتے ہیں اور وہ غالب حکمت والا ہے

Allah knows what they worship instead of Him; He is the Almighty, the Wise.
Arberry
God knows whatever thing they call upon apart from Him; He is the All-mighty, the All-wise.
وَتِلْكَ ٱلْأَمْثَٰلُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ ۖ وَمَا يَعْقِلُهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْعَٰلِمُونَ ﴿43﴾

اور یہ مثالیں ہیں جنہیں ہم لوگوں کے لیے بیان کرتے ہیں اور انہیں وہی سمجھتے ہیں جو علم والے ہیں

And We illustrate these examples for mankind; and none except the knowledgeable understand them.
Arberry
And those similitudes -- We strike them for the people, but none understands them save those who know.
خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿44﴾

الله نے آسمانو ں اور زمین کو مناسب طور پر بنایا ہے بے شک اس میں ایمان والوں کے لیے بڑی نشانی ہے

Allah created the heavens and the earth with the truth; indeed in this is a sign for the Muslims.
Arberry
God created the heavens and the earth with the truth; surely in that is a sign to the believers.
ٱتْلُ مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ تَنْهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ ۗ وَلَذِكْرُ ٱللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ ﴿45﴾

جو کتاب تیری طرف وحی کی گئی ہے اسے پڑھا کرو اور نماز کے پابند رہو بے شک نماز بے حیائی اوربری بات سے روکتی ہے اور الله کی یاد بہت بڑی چیز ہے اور الله جانتا ہے جو تم کرتے ہو

O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), recite from the Book which has been sent down to you, and establish the prayer; indeed the prayer stops from indecency and evil; and indeed the remembrance of Allah is the greatest; and Allah knows all what you do.
Arberry
Recite what has been revealed to thee of the Book, and perform the prayer; prayer forbids indecency and dishonour. God's remembrance is greater; and God knows the things you work.
۞ وَلَا تُجَٰدِلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ إِلَّا بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَقُولُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَأُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَإِلَٰهُنَا وَإِلَٰهُكُمْ وَٰحِدٌۭ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ مُسْلِمُونَ ﴿46﴾

اور اہل کتاب سے نہ جھگڑو مگر ایسے طریقے سے جو عمدہ ہو مگر جو ان میں بے انصاف ہیں اور کہہ دو ہم اس پر ایمان لائے جو ہماری طرف نازل کیا گیا اور تمہاری طرف نازل کیا گیا اور ہمارا اور تمہارا معبود ایک ہی ہے اور ہم اسی کے فرمانبردار ہونے والے ہیں

And O Muslims, do not argue with the People given the Book(s) except in the best manner – except (with) those among them who oppress, and say, “We believe in what has been sent down towards us and what has been sent towards you – and ours and your God is One, and we have submitted ourselves to Him.”
Arberry
Dispute not with the People of the Book save in the fairer manner, except for those of them that do wrong; and say, 'We believe in what has been sent down to us, and what has been sent down to you; our God and your God is One, and to Him we have surrendered.'
وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ۚ فَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ ۖ وَمِنْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِهِۦ ۚ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ ﴿47﴾

اور اسی طرح ہم نے تیری طرف کتاب نازل کی ہے پھر جنہیں ہم نے کتاب دی تھی وہ تو اس پر ایمان لائے ہیں اور ان میں سے بھی کچھ لوگ اس پر ایمان لائے ہیں اور ہماری آیتوں کا کافر ہی انکار کیا کرتے ہیں

And this is how We sent down the Book to you O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him); so those to whom We gave the Book believe in it; and some of these (polytheists) accept faith in it; and none except the disbelievers reject Our signs.
Arberry
Even so We have sent down to thee the Book. Those to whom We have given the Book believe in it; and some of these believe in it; and none denies Our signs but the unbelievers.
وَمَا كُنتَ تَتْلُوا۟ مِن قَبْلِهِۦ مِن كِتَٰبٍۢ وَلَا تَخُطُّهُۥ بِيَمِينِكَ ۖ إِذًۭا لَّٱرْتَابَ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ ﴿48﴾

اور اس سے پہلے نہ تو کوئی کتاب پڑھتا تھا اور نہ اسے اپنے دائیں ہاتھ سے لکھتا تھا اس وقت االبتہ باطل پرست شک کرتے

And you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) were not reading any Book before it, nor writing with your right hand – if it were, the people of falsehood would surely have doubted.
Arberry
Not before this didst thou recite any Book, or inscribe it with thy right hand, for then those who follow falsehood would have doubted.
بَلْ هُوَ ءَايَٰتٌۢ بَيِّنَٰتٌۭ فِى صُدُورِ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ ۚ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَّا ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ ﴿49﴾

بلکہ وہ روشن آیتیں ہیں ان کے دلوں میں جنہیں علم دیا گیاہے اور ہماری آیتوں کا صرف ظالم ہی انکار کرتے ہیں

In fact they are clear verses in the hearts of those who have been given knowledge; and none deny Our verses except the unjust.
Arberry
Nay; rather it is signs, clear signs in the breasts of those who have been given knowledge; and none denies Our signs but the evildoers.
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَٰتٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۖ قُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْءَايَٰتُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ ﴿50﴾

اور کہتے ہیں اس پر اس کے رب کی طرف سے نشانیاں کیوں نہ اتریں کہہ دو نشانیاں تو الله ہی کے اختیار میں ہیں اور میں تو بس کھول کر سنا دینے والا ہوں

And they said, “Why did not signs come down to him from his Lord?” Say, “Signs are only with Allah; and I am purely a Herald of plain warning.”
Arberry
They say, 'Why have signs not been gent down upon him from his Lord?' Say: 'The signs are only with God, and I am only a plain warner.
أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِهِمْ أَنَّآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَرَحْمَةًۭ وَذِكْرَىٰ لِقَوْمٍۢ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿51﴾

کیا ان کے لیے یہ کافی نہیں کہ ہم نے تجھ پر کتاب نازل کی جو ان پر پڑھی جاتی ہے بے شک اس میں رحمت ہے اور ایمان والوں کے لیے نصیحت ہے

Is it not enough for them that We have sent down the Book upon you, which is read to them? Indeed in it are mercy and advice for the Muslims.
Arberry
What, is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down upon thee the Book that is recited to them? Surely in that is a mercy, and a reminder to a people who believe.
قُلْ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ شَهِيدًۭا ۖ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ وَكَفَرُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ ﴿52﴾

کہہ دو الله میرے اور تمہارے درمیان گواہ کافی ہے جو کچھ آسمانوں اور زمین میں ہے جانتا ہے اور جو لوگ جھوٹ پر ایمان لائے اورالله کا انکار کیا وہی نقصان پانے والے ہیں

Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “Allah is Sufficient as a Witness between me and you; He knows all what is in the heavens and in the earth; and those who accepted faith in falsehood and denied faith in Allah – it is they who are the losers.”
Arberry
Say: 'God suffices as a witness between me and you.' He knows whatsoever is in the heavens and earth. Those who believe in vanity and disbelieve in God -- those, they are the losers.
وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِٱلْعَذَابِ ۚ وَلَوْلَآ أَجَلٌۭ مُّسَمًّۭى لَّجَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَلَيَأْتِيَنَّهُم بَغْتَةًۭ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿53﴾

اور تجھ سے عذاب جلدی مانگتے ہیں اور اگر ایک وعدہ مقرر نہ ہوتا تو ا ن پر عذاب آ جاتا اور البتہ ان پر اچانک آئے گا اور انہیں خبر بھی نہ ہوگی

And they urge you to hasten the punishment; and if a time had not been fixed, the punishment would have certainly come upon them; and it will indeed come upon them suddenly whilst they are unaware.
Arberry
And they demand of thee to hasten the chastisement! But for a stated term the chastisement would have come upon them; but it shall come upon them suddenly, when they are not aware.
يَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِٱلْعَذَابِ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌۢ بِٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ﴿54﴾
Ahmed Ali
تجھ سے عذاب جلدی مانگتے ہیں اور بے شک دوزخ کافروں کو گھیرلینے والی ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
They urge you to hasten the punishment; and indeed hell has encompassed the disbelievers.
Arberry
They demand of thee to hasten the chastisement! Lo, Gehenna encompasses the unbelievers.
يَوْمَ يَغْشَىٰهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِمْ وَيَقُولُ ذُوقُوا۟ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿55﴾

جس دن عذاب انہیں ان کے اوپر سے اور پاؤں کے نیچے سے گھیر لے گا اور کہے گا جو تم کیا کرتے تھے اس کا مزہ چکھو
Ahmed Raza Khan
The day when the punishment will envelop them from above them and from below their feet, and He will say, “Taste the flavour of your deeds!”
Arberry
Upon the day the chastisement shall overwhelm them from above them and from under their feet, and He shall say, 'Taste now what you were doing!'
يَٰعِبَادِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ أَرْضِى وَٰسِعَةٌۭ فَإِيَّٰىَ فَٱعْبُدُونِ ﴿56﴾
Ahmed Ali
اے میرے بندو جو ایمان لائے ہو میری زمین کشادہ ہے پس میری ہی عبادت کرو
Ahmed Raza Khan
O My bondmen who believe! Indeed My earth is spacious – therefore worship Me alone.
Arberry
O My servants who believe, surely My earth is wide; therefore Me do you serve!
كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ ﴿57﴾
Ahmed Ali
ہر جاندار موت کا مزہ چکھنے والا ہے پھر ہمارے ہی پاس پھر کر آؤ گے

Every soul must taste death; then it is to Us that you will return.
Arberry
Every soul shall taste of death; then unto Us you shall be returned.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ غُرَفًۭا تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ نِعْمَ أَجْرُ ٱلْعَٰمِلِينَ ﴿58﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور جو ایمان لائے اور نیک کام کیے البتہ ہم انہیں جنت کے بالا خانوں میں جگہ دیں گے جن کے نیچے نہریں بہتی ہوں گی وہاں ہمیشہ رہیں گے عمل کرنے والوں کا کیا اچھا بدلہ ہے

And those who believed and did good deeds – indeed We will, surely, place them on high positions in Paradise beneath which rivers flow, abiding in it for ever; what an excellent reward of the performers!
Arberry
And those who believe, and do righteous deeds, We shall surely lodge them in lofty chambers of paradise, underneath which rivers flow, therein dwelling forever; and excellent is the wage of those who labour,
ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ ﴿59﴾

جنہوں نے صبر کیا اور اپنے رب پر بھروسہ رکھتے ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khan
Those who patiently endured and who rely only upon their Lord.
Arberry
such men as are patient, and put their trust in their Lord.
وَكَأَيِّن مِّن دَآبَّةٍۢ لَّا تَحْمِلُ رِزْقَهَا ٱللَّهُ يَرْزُقُهَا وَإِيَّاكُمْ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ﴿60﴾

اور بہت سے جانور ہیں جو اپنا رزق اٹھائے نہیں پھرتے الله ہی انہیں اور تمہیں رزق دیتا ہے اور وہ سننے والا جاننے والا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And many creatures walk upon the earth that do not carry their own sustenance; Allah provides the sustenance to them and to you; and only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing.
Arberry
How many a beast that bears not its own provision, but God provides for it and you! He is the All-hearer, the All-knower.
وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ ﴿61﴾

اور البتہ اگر تو اان سے پوچھے کہ آسمانوں اور زمین کو کس نے پیدا کیا اور سورج اور چاند کو کس نے کام میں لگایا تو ضرور کہیں گے الله نے پھر کہاں الٹے جا رہے ہیں

And if you ask them, “Who created the heavens and the earth, and subjected the sun and the moon?”, they will surely say, “Allah”; so where are they reverting?
Arberry
If thou askest them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon?' they will say, 'God.' How then are they perverted?
ٱللَّهُ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَقْدِرُ لَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۭ ﴿62﴾

الله ہی اپنے بندوں میں سے جس کے لیے چاہتا ہے رزق کشادہ کر دیتا ہے اورتنگ کر دیتا ہے بے شک الله ہر چیز کا جاننے والا ہے

Allah eases the sustenance for whomever He wills among His bondmen, and restricts it for whomever He wills; indeed Allah knows all things.
Arberry
God outspreads and straitens His provision to whomsoever He will of His servants; God has knowledge of everything.
وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّن نَّزَّلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَوْتِهَا لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ ۚ قُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ ﴿63﴾

اور البتہ اگر تو ان سے پوچھے آسمان سے کس نے پانی اتارا پھر اس سے زمین کو اس کے مرنے کے بعد زندہ کیا کہیں گے الله نے کہہ دو سب تعریف الله ہی کے لیے ہے لیکن ان میں سے اکثر نہیں سمجھتے

And if you ask them, “Who sent down the water from the sky, and with it revived the earth after its death?”, they will surely say, “Allah”; proclaim, “All praise is to Allah”; in fact most of them do not have any sense.
Arberry
If thou askest them, 'Who sends down out of heaven water, and therewith revives the earth after it is dead?' they will say, 'God.' Say: 'Praise belongs to God.' Nay, but most of them have no understanding.
وَمَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا لَهْوٌۭ وَلَعِبٌۭ ۚ وَإِنَّ ٱلدَّارَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةَ لَهِىَ ٱلْحَيَوَانُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿64﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور یہ دنیا کی زندگی تو صرف کھیل اور تماشا ہے اور اصل زندگی عالم آخرت کی ہے کاش وہ سمجھتے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And this worldly life is nothing but pastime and game; indeed the abode of the Hereafter – that is indeed the true life; if only they knew.
Arberry
This present life is naught but a diversion and a sport; surely the Last Abode is Life, did they but know.
فَإِذَا رَكِبُوا۟ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ فَلَمَّا نَجَّىٰهُمْ إِلَى ٱلْبَرِّ إِذَا هُمْ يُشْرِكُونَ ﴿65﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھر جب کشتی میں سوار ہوتے ہیں تو خالص اعتقاد سے الله ہی کو پکارتے ہیں پھر جب انہیں نجات دے کر خشکی کی طرف لے آتا ہے فوراً ہی شرک کرنے لگتے ہیں

And when they board the ships they pray to Allah, believing purely in Him; so when He delivers them safely to land, they immediately begin ascribing partners (to Him)!
Arberry
When they embark in the ships, they call on God, making their religion sincerely His; but when He has delivered them to the land, they associate others with Him,
لِيَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ وَلِيَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿66﴾
Ahmed Ali
تاکہ ناشکری کریں اس نعمت کی جو ہم نے انہیں دی تھی اور مزے اڑاتے رہیں عنقریب انہیں معلوم ہو جائے گا
Ahmed Raza Khan
In order to be ungrateful for Our favours; and to use the comforts; therefore they will soon come to know.
Arberry
that they may be ungrateful for what We have given them, and take their enjoyment; they will soon know!
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا جَعَلْنَا حَرَمًا ءَامِنًۭا وَيُتَخَطَّفُ ٱلنَّاسُ مِنْ حَوْلِهِمْ ۚ أَفَبِٱلْبَٰطِلِ يُؤْمِنُونَ وَبِنِعْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ يَكْفُرُونَ ﴿67﴾
Ahmed Ali
کیا وہ نہیں دیکھتے کہ ہم نے حرم کو امن کی جگہ بنا دیا ہے اور لوگ ان کے آس پاس سے اچک لیے جاتے ہیں کیا یہ لوگ جھوٹ پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور الله کی نعمت کی ناشکری کرتے ہیں

Did they not observe that We have created a refuge in the Sacred Land, and people around them are snatched away? So do they believe in falsehood and are ungrateful for the favours of Allah?
Arberry
Have they not seen that We have appointed a sanctuary secure, while all about them the people are snatched away? What, do they believe in vanity, and do they disbelieve in God's blessing?
وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُۥٓ ۚ أَلَيْسَ فِى جَهَنَّمَ مَثْوًۭى لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ ﴿68﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور اس سے بڑھ کر کون ظالم ہے جو الله پر جھوٹ باندھے یا حق کو جھٹلائے جب اس کے پاس آئے کیا دوزخ میں کافروں کا ٹھکانہ نہیں ہے

And who is more unjust than one who fabricates lies against Allah, or denies the truth* when it comes to him? Is there not a place in hell for disbelievers? (* The Holy Prophet and / or the Holy Qur’an).
Arberry
And who does greater evil than he who forges against God a lie, or cries lies to the truth when it comes to him? What, is there not in Gehenna a lodging for the unbelievers?
وَٱلَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُوا۟ فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا ۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَمَعَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ﴿69﴾

اور جنہوں نے ہمارے لیے کوشش کی ہم انہیں ضرور اپنی راہیں سمجھا دیں گے اور بے شک الله نیکو کاروں کے ساتھ ہے

And those who strove in Our way – We shall surely show them Our paths; and indeed Allah is with the virtuous.
Arberry
But those who struggle in Our cause, surely We shall guide them in Our ways; and God is with the good-doers.
