بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ ﴿1﴾
Ahmed Ali
ا س شہر کی قسم ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
I swear by this city (Mecca) –
Arberry
No! I swear by this land,
وَأَنتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ ﴿2﴾
Ahmed Ali
حالانکہ آپ اس شہر میں مقیم ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khan
For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city.
Arberry
and thou art a lodger in this land;
وَوَالِدٍۢ وَمَا وَلَدَ ﴿3﴾
Ahmed Ali
اورباپ کی اور اس کی اولاد کی قسم ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And by oath of your forefather Ibrahim, and by you – his illustrious son!
Arberry
by the begetter, and that he begot,
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ فِى كَبَدٍ ﴿4﴾
Ahmed Ali
کہ بےشک ہم نے انسان کو مصیبت میں پیدا کیا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
We have indeed created man surrounded by hardships.
Arberry
indeed, We created man in trouble.
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌۭ ﴿5﴾
Ahmed Ali
کیا وہ خیال کرتا ہےکہ اس پر کوئی بھی ہرگز قابو نہ پا سکے گا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Does man think that no one will ever have power over him?
Arberry
What, does he think none has power over him,
يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًۭا لُّبَدًا ﴿6﴾
Ahmed Ali
کہتا ہے کہ میں نے مال برباد کر ڈالا
Ahmed Raza Khan
He says, “I destroyed vast wealth.”
Arberry
saying, 'I have consumed wealth abundant'?
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ ﴿7﴾
Ahmed Ali
کیا وہ خیال کرتا ہے کہ اسے کسی نے بھی نہیں دیکھا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Does man think that no one saw him?
Arberry
What, does he think none has seen him?
أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عَيْنَيْنِ ﴿8﴾
Ahmed Ali
کیا ہم نے اس کے لیے دو آنکھیں نہیں بنائیں
Ahmed Raza Khan
Did We not make two eyes for him?
Arberry
Have We not appointed to him two eyes,
وَلِسَانًۭا وَشَفَتَيْنِ ﴿9﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور زبان اور دو ہونٹ
Ahmed Raza Khan
And a tongue and two lips?
Arberry
and a tongue, and two lips,
وَهَدَيْنَٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ ﴿10﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور ہم نے اسے دونوں راستے دکھائے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And did We not guide him to the two elevated things?
Arberry
and guided him on the two highways?
فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ ﴿11﴾
Ahmed Ali
پس وہ (دین کی) گھاٹی میں سے نہ ہو کر نکلا
Ahmed Raza Khan
So he did not quickly enter the steep valley.
Arberry
Yet he has not assaulted the steep;
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْعَقَبَةُ ﴿12﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور آپ کو کیا معلوم کہ وہ گھاٹی کیا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And what have you understood, what the valley is!
Arberry
and what shall teach thee what is the steep?
فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ ﴿13﴾
Ahmed Raza Khan
The freeing of a slave!
Arberry
The freeing of a slave,
أَوْ إِطْعَٰمٌۭ فِى يَوْمٍۢ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍۢ ﴿14﴾
Ahmed Ali
یا بھوک کے دن میں کھلانا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Or the feeding on a day of hunger.
Arberry
or giving food upon a day of hunger
يَتِيمًۭا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ ﴿15﴾
Ahmed Ali
کسی رشتہ دار یتیم کو
Ahmed Raza Khan
Of a related orphan,
Arberry
to an orphan near of kin
أَوْ مِسْكِينًۭا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍۢ ﴿16﴾
Ahmed Ali
یا کسی خاک نشین مسکین کو
Ahmed Raza Khan
Or of a homeless needy person!
Arberry
or a needy man in misery;
ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ ﴿17﴾

پھر وہ ان میں سے ہو جو ایمان لائے اور انہوں نے ایک دوسرے کو صبر کی وصیت کی اور رحم کرنے کی وصیت کی

And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another.
Arberry
then that he become of those who believe and counsel each other to be steadfast, and counsel each other to be merciful.
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ ﴿18﴾
Ahmed Ali
یہی لوگ دائیں والے ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khan
These are the people of the right.
Arberry
Those are the Companions of the Right Hand.
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ ﴿19﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور جنہوں نے ہماری آیتوں سے انکار کیا وہی بائیں والے ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khan
And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left.
Arberry
And those who disbelieve in Our signs, they are the Companions of the Left Hand;
عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌۭ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ ﴿20﴾

انہیں پر چاروں طرف سے بند کی ہوئی آگ ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
Upon them is a fire, in which they are imprisoned, closed and shut above them.
Arberry
over them is a Fire covered down.
