بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِى نَزَّلَ ٱلْفُرْقَانَ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ لِيَكُونَ لِلْعَٰلَمِينَ نَذِيرًا ﴿1﴾

وہ بڑی برکت والا ہے جس نے اپنے بندے پر قرآن نازل کیا تاکہ تمام جہان کے لیےڈرانے والا ہو

Most Auspicious is He Who has sent down the Furqan (the Criterion – the Holy Qur’an) upon His chosen bondman for him to be a Herald of Warning to the entire world. (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – is the Prophet towards all mankind.)
Arberry
Blessed be He who has sent down the Salvation upon His servant, that he may be a warner to all beings;
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًۭا وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ شَرِيكٌۭ فِى ٱلْمُلْكِ وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍۢ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ تَقْدِيرًۭا ﴿2﴾

وہ جس کی آسمانوں اور زمین میں سلطنت ہے اور اس نے نہ کسی کو بیٹا بنایا ہے اور نہ کوئی سلطنت میں اس کا شریک ہے اور اس نے ہر چیز کو پیدا کر کے اندازہ پر قائم کر دیا

The One to Whom belongs the kingship of the heavens and of the earth, and has not chosen a child, and has no partner in His kingship, and He has created everything and kept it in proper measure.
Arberry
to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and He has not taken to Him a son, and He has no associate in the Kingdom; and He created every thing, then He ordained it very exactly.
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةًۭ لَّا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْـًۭٔا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ وَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ لِأَنفُسِهِمْ ضَرًّۭا وَلَا نَفْعًۭا وَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ مَوْتًۭا وَلَا حَيَوٰةًۭ وَلَا نُشُورًۭا ﴿3﴾

اور انہوں نے الله کے سوا ایسے معبود بنا رکھے ہیں جو کچھ بھی پیدا نہیں کر سکتے حالانکہ وہ خود پیدا کیے گئے ہیں اور وہ اپنی ذات کے لیے نقصان اور نفع کے مالک نہیں اور موت اور زندگی اور دوبارہ اٹھنے کے بھی مالک نہیں

And people have appointed other Gods besides Him, those who do not create anything but are themselves created, and those who do not have the power to harm or benefit themselves, and who do not have any authority over death or life nor over resurrection.
Arberry
Yet they have taken to them gods, apart from Him, that create nothing and themselves are created, and have no power to hurt or profit themselves, no power of death or life or raising up.
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ إِفْكٌ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ وَأَعَانَهُۥ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ ءَاخَرُونَ ۖ فَقَدْ جَآءُو ظُلْمًۭا وَزُورًۭا ﴿4﴾

اور کافر کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تو محض جھوٹ ہے جسے اس نے بنا لیا ہے اور دوسرے لوگوں نے اس میں ا س کی مدد کی ہے پس وہ بڑے ظلم اور جھوٹ پر اتر آئے ہیں

And the disbelievers said, “This is nothing but a slur he has fabricated and others have helped him upon it”; so indeed the disbelievers have stooped to injustice and lie.
Arberry
The unbelievers say, 'This is naught but a calumny he has forged, and other folk have helped him to it.' So they have committed wrong and falsehood.
وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٱكْتَتَبَهَا فَهِىَ تُمْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ بُكْرَةًۭ وَأَصِيلًۭا ﴿5﴾

اور کہتے ہیں کہ پہلوں کی کہانیاں ہیں کہ جنہیں اس نے لکھ رکھا ہے پس وہی اس پر صبح اور شام پڑھی جاتی ہیں

And they said, “These are stories of the former people, which he has written down, so they are read to him morning and evening.”
Arberry
They say, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients that he has had written down, so that they are recited to him at the dawn and in the evening.'
قُلْ أَنزَلَهُ ٱلَّذِى يَعْلَمُ ٱلسِّرَّ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا ﴿6﴾

کہہ دو کہ اسے تو اس نے نازل کیا ہے جو آسمانوں اور زمین کی پوشیدہ باتیں جانتا ہے بے شک وہ بخشنے والا نہایت رحم والا ہے

Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “It is sent down by Him Who knows all the secrets of the heavens and the earth; indeed He Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful."
Arberry
Say: 'He sent it down, who knows the secret in the heavens and earth; He is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.'
وَقَالُوا۟ مَالِ هَٰذَا ٱلرَّسُولِ يَأْكُلُ ٱلطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشِى فِى ٱلْأَسْوَاقِ ۙ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مَلَكٌۭ فَيَكُونَ مَعَهُۥ نَذِيرًا ﴿7﴾

اور کہتے ہیں اس رسول کو کیا ہوگیا کہ کھاناکھاتا اور بازاروں میں پھرتا ہے اس کے پاس کوئی فرشتہ کیوں نہیں بھیجا گیا کہ اس کے ساتھ وہ بھی ڈرانے والا ہوتا

And they said, “What is the matter with this (Noble) Messenger, that he eats food and walks in the markets? Why was not an angel sent down along with him, to give warning along with him?”
Arberry
They also say, 'What ails this Messenger that he eats food, and goes in the markets? Why has an angel not been sent down to him, to be a warner with him?
أَوْ يُلْقَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِ كَنزٌ أَوْ تَكُونُ لَهُۥ جَنَّةٌۭ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا ۚ وَقَالَ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلًۭا مَّسْحُورًا ﴿8﴾

یا اس کے پاس کوئی خزانہ آجاتا یا اس کے لیے باغ ہوتا جس میں سےکھاتا اور بے انصافوں نے کہا کہ تم تو بس ایک ایسے شخص کے تابع ہوگئے جس پر جادو کیا گیا ہے

“Or that he should have obtained a hidden treasure, or should have had a garden from which to eat”; and the unjust said, “You do not follow but a man under a magic spell.”
Arberry
Or why is not a treasure thrown to him, or why has he not a Garden to eat of?' The evildoers say, 'You are only following a man bewitched!'
ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا۟ لَكَ ٱلْأَمْثَٰلَ فَضَلُّوا۟ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًۭا ﴿9﴾

دیکھو تو تمہارے لیے کیسی مثالیں بیان کرتے ہیں پس وہ ایسے گمراہ ہو ئے کہ راستہ بھی نہیں پا سکتے
Ahmed Raza Khan
O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) see how they invent examples for you – they have therefore gone astray, unable find a road.
Arberry
Behold, how they strike similitudes for thee, and go astray, and are unable to find a way!
تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِىٓ إِن شَآءَ جَعَلَ لَكَ خَيْرًۭا مِّن ذَٰلِكَ جَنَّٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ وَيَجْعَل لَّكَ قُصُورًۢا ﴿10﴾

بڑی برکت ہے اس کی جو چاہے تو تیرے لیے اس سے بہتر باغ بنا دے جن کے نیچے نہریں بہتی ہوں اور تیرے لیے محل بنا دے

Most Auspicious is He Who, if He wills, may make it much better for you – Gardens beneath which rivers flow, and may create high palaces for you.
Arberry
Blessed be He who, if He will, shall assign to them better than that -- gardens underneath which rivers flow, and he shall assign to thee palaces.
بَلْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِٱلسَّاعَةِ ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِمَن كَذَّبَ بِٱلسَّاعَةِ سَعِيرًا ﴿11﴾

بلکہ انہوں نے تو قیامت کو جھوٹ سمجھ لیا ہے اور ہم نے اس کے لیے آگ تیار کی ہے جو قیامت کو جھٹلاتا ہے

In fact they deny the Last Day; and We have kept prepared a blazing fire for those who deny the Last Day.
Arberry
Nay, but they cry lies to the Hour; and We have prepared for him who cries lies to the Hour a Blaze.
إِذَا رَأَتْهُم مِّن مَّكَانٍۭ بَعِيدٍۢ سَمِعُوا۟ لَهَا تَغَيُّظًۭا وَزَفِيرًۭا ﴿12﴾
Ahmed Ali
جب وہ انہیں دور سے دیکھے گی تو اس کے جوش و خروش کی آواز سنیں گے

When it will see them from afar, they will hear its raging and roaring.
Arberry
When it sees them from a far place, they shall hear its bubbling and sighing.
وَإِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ مِنْهَا مَكَانًۭا ضَيِّقًۭا مُّقَرَّنِينَ دَعَوْا۟ هُنَالِكَ ثُبُورًۭا ﴿13﴾

اور جب وہ اس کے کسی تنگ مکان میں جکڑکر ڈال دیے جائیں گے تو وہاں موت کو پکاریں گے

And when they are thrown into a narrow place in it, bound in chains, they will pray for death in it.
Arberry
And when they are cast, coupled in fetters, into a narrow place of that Fire, they will call out there for destruction.
لَّا تَدْعُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ ثُبُورًۭا وَٰحِدًۭا وَٱدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًۭا كَثِيرًۭا ﴿14﴾

آج ایک موت کو نہ پکارو اور بہت سی موتوں کو پکارو

It will be said “Do not pray this day for one death – and pray for many deaths.”
Arberry
'Call not out today for one destruction, but call for many!'
قُلْ أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ أَمْ جَنَّةُ ٱلْخُلْدِ ٱلَّتِى وُعِدَ ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ ۚ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَزَآءًۭ وَمَصِيرًۭا ﴿15﴾

کہہ دو کیا بہتر ہے یا وہ بہشت جس کا پرہیز گارو ں کے لیے وعدہ کیا گیا ہے جو ان کا بدلہ اور ٹھکانہ ہوگی

Say, “Is this better or the Everlasting Gardens which are promised to those who fear? That is their reward and their outcome.”
Arberry
Say: 'Is that better, or the Garden of Eternity, that is promised to the godfearing, and is their recompense and homecoming?'
لَّهُمْ فِيهَا مَا يَشَآءُونَ خَٰلِدِينَ ۚ كَانَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ وَعْدًۭا مَّسْـُٔولًۭا ﴿16﴾

وہاں انہیں جو چاہیں گے ملے گا وہ اس میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے یہ وعدہ تیرے رب کے ذمہ ہے جو قابل درخواست ہے

“In it for them is all that they may desire, abiding in it for ever; a promise incumbent upon your Lord, that is prayed for.”
Arberry
Therein they shall have what they will dwelling forever; it is a promise binding upon thy Lord, and of Him to be required.
وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَيَقُولُ ءَأَنتُمْ أَضْلَلْتُمْ عِبَادِى هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ أَمْ هُمْ ضَلُّوا۟ ٱلسَّبِيلَ ﴿17﴾

اورجس دن انہیں اور ان کے معبودوں کو جمع کرے گا جنھیں وہ الله کے سوا پوجتے تھے تو فرمائے گا کیا تم ہی نے میرے ان بندوں کو گمراہ کیا تھا یا وہ خود راستہ بھول گئے تھے

And on the day when He will assemble them and all what they worship instead of Allah – then will say to those deities, “Did you mislead my bondmen or did they themselves forget the path?”

Upon the day when He shall muster them and that they serve, apart from God, and He shall say, 'Was it you that led these My servants astray, or did they themselves err from the way?'
قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَٰنَكَ مَا كَانَ يَنۢبَغِى لَنَآ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ مِن دُونِكَ مِنْ أَوْلِيَآءَ وَلَٰكِن مَّتَّعْتَهُمْ وَءَابَآءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَسُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوْمًۢا بُورًۭا ﴿18﴾

کہیں گے تو پاک ہے ہمیں یہ کب لایق تھا کہ تیرے سوا کسی اور کو کارساز بناتے لیکن تو نے انہیں اور ان کے باپ دادا کو یہاں تک آسودگی دی تھی کہ وہ یاد کرنا بھول گئے اور یہ لوگ تباہ ہونے والے تھے

They will submit, “Purity is to You – it was not rightful for us to appoint any Master besides You; but You gave them and their forefathers usage to the extent that they forgot Your Remembrance; and they were indeed the people who destroy themselves.”
Arberry
They shall 'Glory be to Thee! It did not behove us to take unto say, ourselves protectors apart from Thee; but Thou gavest them and their fathers enjoyment of days, until they forgot
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوكُم بِمَا تَقُولُونَ فَمَا تَسْتَطِيعُونَ صَرْفًۭا وَلَا نَصْرًۭا ۚ وَمَن يَظْلِم مِّنكُمْ نُذِقْهُ عَذَابًۭا كَبِيرًۭا ﴿19﴾

سو تمہارے معبودوں نے تمہاری باتو ں میں تمہیں جھٹلا دیا سو تم نہ تو ٹال سکتے ہو اور نہ مدد دے سکتے ہو اور جو تم میں سے ظلم کرے گا ہم اسے بڑا عذاب چکھائیں گے

“So the deities have belied what you state – so now you can neither avert the punishment nor help yourself; and whoever among you is unjust, We shall make him taste a terrible punishment.”
Arberry
the Remembrance, and were a people corrupt.' So they cried lies touching the things you say, and you can neither turn it aside, nor find any help. Whosoever of you does evil, We shall let him taste a great chastisement.
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ لَيَأْكُلُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشُونَ فِى ٱلْأَسْوَاقِ ۗ وَجَعَلْنَا بَعْضَكُمْ لِبَعْضٍۢ فِتْنَةً أَتَصْبِرُونَ ۗ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ بَصِيرًۭا ﴿20﴾

اور ہم نے تجھ سے پہلے جتنے پیغمبر بھیجے وہ کھانا بھی کھاتے تھے اور بازاروں میں بھی چلتے پھرتے تھے اورہم نے تمہیں ایک دوسرے کے لیے آزمائش بنایا کیا تم ثابت قدم رہتے ہو اور تیرا رب سب کچھ دیکھنے والا ہے

And all the Noble Messengers We sent before you were like this – eating food and walking in the markets; and We have made some of you a test for others; so will you, O people, patiently endure? And O dear Prophet, your Lord is All Seeing.
Arberry
And We sent not before thee any Envoys, but that they ate food, and went in the markets; and We appointed some of you to be a trial for others: 'Will you endure?' Thy Lord is ever All-seeing.
۞ وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ نَرَىٰ رَبَّنَا ۗ لَقَدِ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَعَتَوْ عُتُوًّۭا كَبِيرًۭا ﴿21﴾

اور ان لوگوں نے کہا جو ہم سے ملنے کی امید نہیں رکھتے کہ ہمارے پاس فرشتے کیوں نہ بھیجے گئے یا ہم اپنے رب کو دیکھ لیتے البتہ انہوں نے اپنے آپ کو بہت بڑاسمجھ لیا ہے اور بہت بڑی سرکشی کی ہے

And those who do not expect to meet Us said, “Why were the angels not sent down to us or we been able to see our Lord?” Indeed they thought too highly of themselves and they turned extremely rebellious.
Arberry
Say those who look not to encounter Us, 'Why have the angels not been sent down on us, or why see we not our Lord?' Waxed proud they have within them, and become greatly disdainful.
يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ لَا بُشْرَىٰ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ وَيَقُولُونَ حِجْرًۭا مَّحْجُورًۭا ﴿22﴾

جس دن فرشتوں کو دیکھیں گے اس دن مجرموں کے لیے کوئی خوشی نہیں ہو گی اورکہیں گے آڑ کر دی جائے

The day when they will see the angels – that day will not be of any happiness for the guilty – and they will cry, “O God, erect a barrier between us and them!”
Arberry
Upon the day that they see the angels, no good tidings that day for the sinners; they shall say, 'A ban forbidden!'
وَقَدِمْنَآ إِلَىٰ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ مِنْ عَمَلٍۢ فَجَعَلْنَٰهُ هَبَآءًۭ مَّنثُورًا ﴿23﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور جو عمل انہوں نے کیے تھے ہم ان کی طرف متوجہ ہوں گے پھر انہیں اڑتی ہوئی خاک کر دیں گے

And We turned all the deeds they had performed into scattered floating specks of dust.
Arberry
We shall advance upon what work they have done, and make it a scattered dust.
أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَيْرٌۭ مُّسْتَقَرًّۭا وَأَحْسَنُ مَقِيلًۭا ﴿24﴾
Ahmed Ali
اس دن بہشتیوں کا ٹھکانا بہتر ہوگا اور دوپہر کی آرام گاہ بھی عمدہ ہو گی

And for the People of the Garden on that day is a better destination and account, and a better place of afternoon rest.
Arberry
The inhabitants of Paradise that day, better shall be their lodging, fairer their resting-place.
وَيَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِٱلْغَمَٰمِ وَنُزِّلَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ تَنزِيلًا ﴿25﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور جس دن آسمان بادل سے پھٹ جائے گا اور فرشتے بکثرت اتارے جائیں گے

And the day when the sky will be split asunder with clouds and the angels will be sent down in full.
Arberry
Upon the day that heaven is split asunder with the clouds and the angels are sent down in majesty,
ٱلْمُلْكُ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْحَقُّ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ ۚ وَكَانَ يَوْمًا عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَسِيرًۭا ﴿26﴾

اس دن حقیقی حکومت رحمنٰ ہی کی ہوگی اور وہ دن کافروں پر بڑا سخت ہوگا

The true kingship on that day belongs to the Most Gracious; and that is hard for the disbelievers.
Arberry
the Kingdom that day, the true Kingdom, shall belong to the All-merciful and it shall be a day harsh for the unbelievers.
وَيَوْمَ يَعَضُّ ٱلظَّالِمُ عَلَىٰ يَدَيْهِ يَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى ٱتَّخَذْتُ مَعَ ٱلرَّسُولِ سَبِيلًۭا ﴿27﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور اس دن ظالم اپنے ہاتھ کاٹ کاٹ کھائے گا کہے گا اے کاش میں بھی رسول کے ساتھ راہ چلتا

And the day when the unjust will gnaw his hands, saying, “Alas, if only I had chosen a way along with the (Noble) Messenger (of Allah)!”
Arberry
Upon the day the evildoer shall bite his hands, saying, 'Would that I had taken a way along with the Messenger!
يَٰوَيْلَتَىٰ لَيْتَنِى لَمْ أَتَّخِذْ فُلَانًا خَلِيلًۭا ﴿28﴾

ہائے میری شامت کاش میں نے فلاں کو دوست نہ بنایا ہوتا
Ahmed Raza Khan
“Woe to me – alas, if only I had not taken that one for a friend.”
Arberry
Alas, would that I had not taken So-and-so for a friend!
لَّقَدْ أَضَلَّنِى عَنِ ٱلذِّكْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ جَآءَنِى ۗ وَكَانَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ لِلْإِنسَٰنِ خَذُولًۭا ﴿29﴾

اسی نے تو نصیحت کے آنے کےبعد مجھے بہکا دیا اور شیطان تو انسان کو رسوا کرنے والا ہی ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
“He indeed led me astray from the advice that had come to me”; and Satan deserts man, leaving him unaided.
Arberry
He indeed led me astray from the Remembrance, after it had come to me; Satan is ever a forsaker of men.'
وَقَالَ ٱلرَّسُولُ يَٰرَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ مَهْجُورًۭا ﴿30﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور رسول کہے گا اے میرے رب بےشک میری قوم نے اس قرآن کو نظر انداز کر رکھا تھا

And the Noble Messenger submitted, “O my Lord – indeed my people took this Qur’an as worthy of being abandoned.”
Arberry
The Messenger says, 'O my Lord, behold, my people have taken this Koran as a thing to be shunned.'
وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِىٍّ عَدُوًّۭا مِّنَ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ هَادِيًۭا وَنَصِيرًۭا ﴿31﴾

اور ہم اسی مجرموں کو ہر ایک نبی کا دشمن بناتے رہے ہیں اور ہدایت کرنے اور مدد کرنے کے لیے تیرا رب کافی ہے

And this is how We had appointed guilty people as enemies to every Prophet; and Allah is Sufficient, to guide and to aid.
Arberry
Even so We have appointed to every Prophet an enemy among the sinners; but thy Lord suffices as a guide and as a helper.
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ جُمْلَةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِۦ فُؤَادَكَ ۖ وَرَتَّلْنَٰهُ تَرْتِيلًۭا ﴿32﴾

اور کافر کہتے ہیں کہ اس پر یکبارگی قرآن کیوں نازل نہیں کیا گیا اسی طرح اتارا گیا تاکہ ہم اس سے تیرے دل کو اطمینان دیں اور ہم نے اسے ٹھہر ٹھہر کر پڑھ سنایا

And the disbelievers say, “Why was the Qur’an not sent down to him all at once?” This is how We sent it in stages, in order to strengthen your heart with it and We read it slowly, in stages.
Arberry
The unbelievers say, 'Why has the Koran not been sent down upon him all at once?' Even so, that We may strengthen thy heart thereby, and We have chanted it very distinctly.
وَلَا يَأْتُونَكَ بِمَثَلٍ إِلَّا جِئْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَأَحْسَنَ تَفْسِيرًا ﴿33﴾

اور جو انوکھی بات تیرے سامنے لائیں گے ہم بھی تمہیں اس کا بہت ٹھیک جواب اوربہت عمدہ حل بتائیں

And they will never bring you an example, but We shall bring you a true narration and better than it.
Arberry
They bring not to thee any similitude but that We bring thee the truth, and better in exposition.
ٱلَّذِينَ يُحْشَرُونَ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ شَرٌّۭ مَّكَانًۭا وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلًۭا ﴿34﴾

جو لوگ مونہوں کے بل گھسیٹ کر جہنم میں ڈالیں جائیں گے یہی برے درجے والے ہیں اور بہت ہی بڑے گمراہ ہیں

Those who will be dragged on their faces towards hell – theirs is the worst destination and they are the most astray.
Arberry
Those who shall be mustered to Gehenna upon their faces -- they shall be worse in place, and gone further astray from the way.
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَجَعَلْنَا مَعَهُۥٓ أَخَاهُ هَٰرُونَ وَزِيرًۭا ﴿35﴾

اور البتہ تحقیق ہم نے موسیٰ کو کتاب دی اور ہم نے اس کے ساتھ اس کے بھائی ہارون کو وزیر بنایا

And indeed We gave Moosa the Book and appointed with him his brother Haroon as a deputy.
Arberry
We gave Moses the Book, and appointed with him his brother Aaron as minister
فَقُلْنَا ٱذْهَبَآ إِلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَدَمَّرْنَٰهُمْ تَدْمِيرًۭا ﴿36﴾

پھر ہم نے کہا تم دونو ان لوگوں کی طرف جاؤ جنہو ں نے ہماری آیتیں جھٹلائی ہیں پھر ہم نے انہیں جڑ سے اکھاڑ کر پھینک دیا

We therefore said, “Go, both of you, to the people who have denied Our signs”; then ruining the people, We destroyed them completely.
Arberry
and We said, 'Go to the people who have cried lies to Our signs'; then We destroyed them utterly.
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍۢ لَّمَّا كَذَّبُوا۟ ٱلرُّسُلَ أَغْرَقْنَٰهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ لِلنَّاسِ ءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا ﴿37﴾

اور نوح کی قوم کوبھی جب انہو ں نے رسولوں کو جھٹلایا تو ہم نے انہیں غرق کر دیا اور ہم نے انہیں لوگوں کے لیے نشانی بنا دیا اور ہم نے ظالموں کے لیے دردناک عذاب تیار کیا ہے

And the people of Nooh – when they denied the Noble Messengers, We drowned them and made them a sign for mankind; and We have kept prepared a painful punishment for the unjust.
Arberry
And the people of Noah, when they cried lies to the Messengers, We drowned them, and made them to be a sign to mankind; and We have prepared for the evildoers a painful chastisement.
وَعَادًۭا وَثَمُودَا۟ وَأَصْحَٰبَ ٱلرَّسِّ وَقُرُونًۢا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ كَثِيرًۭا ﴿38﴾

اور عاد اور ثمود اورکنوئیں والوں کو بھی اوربہت سے دور جو ان کے درمیان تھے

And the tribes of A’ad and the Thamud, and the people of the Wells, and many a generation between them.
Arberry
And Ad, and Thamood, and the men of Er-Rass, and between that generations a many,
وَكُلًّۭا ضَرَبْنَا لَهُ ٱلْأَمْثَٰلَ ۖ وَكُلًّۭا تَبَّرْنَا تَتْبِيرًۭا ﴿39﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور ہم نے ہر ایک کو مثالیں دے کر سمجھایا تھا اور سب کو ہم نے ہلاک کر دیا

And We illustrated examples to each one of them; and ruining them, annihilated them all.
Arberry
for each We struck similitudes, and each We ruined utterly.
وَلَقَدْ أَتَوْا۟ عَلَى ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلَّتِىٓ أُمْطِرَتْ مَطَرَ ٱلسَّوْءِ ۚ أَفَلَمْ يَكُونُوا۟ يَرَوْنَهَا ۚ بَلْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ نُشُورًۭا ﴿40﴾

اور یہ اس بستی پر بھی گزرے ہیں جس پر بری طرح پتھر برسائے گئے سو کیا یہ لوگ اسے دیکھتے نہیں رہتے بلکہ یہ لوگ مر کر زندہ ہونے کی امید ہی نہیں رکھتے

And indeed they have visited the township upon which had rained a harmful rain; so were they not seeing it? In fact, they never expected to be raised again.
Arberry
Surely they have come by the city that was rained on by an evil rain; what, have they not seen it? Nay, but they look for no upraising.
وَإِذَا رَأَوْكَ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى بَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ رَسُولًا ﴿41﴾

اور جب یہ لوگ تمہیں دیکھتے ہیں تو بس تم سے مذاق کرنے لگتے ہیں کیا یہی ہے جسےالله نے رسول بنا کر بھیجا

And when they see you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) they take you but as a mockery, “Is this the one whom Allah sent as a (Noble) Messenger?”
Arberry
And when they see thee, they take thee in mockery only: 'What, is this he whom God sent forth as a Messenger?
إِن كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ ءَالِهَتِنَا لَوْلَآ أَن صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا ۚ وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوْنَ ٱلْعَذَابَ مَنْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا ﴿42﴾

اس نے تو ہمیں ہمارے معبودوں سے ہٹا ہی دیا ہوتا اگر ہم ان پر قائم نہ رہتے اور انہیں جلدی معلوم ہوجائے گا جب عذاب دیکھیں گے کہ کون شخص گمراہ تھا

“Possibly he would have misled us away from our Gods had we not been firm upon them”; soon they will know, when they see the punishment, who was astray from the path.
Arberry
Wellnigh he had led us astray from our gods, but that we kept steadfast to them.' Assuredly they shall know, when they see the chastisement, who is further astray from the way.
أَرَءَيْتَ مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُۥ هَوَىٰهُ أَفَأَنتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ وَكِيلًا ﴿43﴾

کیا تم نے اس شخص کو دیکھا جس نے اپنا خدا اپنی خوہشات نفسانی کو بنا رکھا ہے پھر کیا تو اس کا ذمہ دار ہو سکتا ہے

Did you see the one who chose his own desires as his God? So will you accept the responsibility of guarding him?
Arberry
Hast thou seen him who has taken his caprice to be his god? Wilt thou be a guardian over them?
أَمْ تَحْسَبُ أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ ۚ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا كَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ ۖ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا ﴿44﴾

یا تو خیال کرتا ہے کہ اکثر ان میں سے سنتے یا سمجھتے ہیں یہ تو محض چوپایوں کی طرح ہیں بلکہ ان سے بھی زیادہ گمراہ ہیں

Or do you think that most of them hear or understand something? They are not but like the cattle – in fact more astray from the path than them!
Arberry
Or deemest thou that most of them hear or understand? They are but as the cattle; nay, they are further astray from the way.
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَيْفَ مَدَّ ٱلظِّلَّ وَلَوْ شَآءَ لَجَعَلَهُۥ سَاكِنًۭا ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا ٱلشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيلًۭا ﴿45﴾

کیا تو نے اپنے رب کی طرف نہیں دیکھا کہ اس نے سایہ کو کیسے پھیلایا ہے اور اگر چاہتا تو اسے ٹھہرا رکھتا پھر ہم نے سورج کو اس کا سبب بنا دیا ہے

O dear Prophet, did you not see your Lord, how He spread the shade? And if He willed, He could have made it still; then We made the sun a proof upon it.
Arberry
Hast thou not regarded thy Lord, how He has stretched out the shadow? Had He willed, He would have made it still. Then We appointed the sun, to be a guide to it;
ثُمَّ قَبَضْنَٰهُ إِلَيْنَا قَبْضًۭا يَسِيرًۭا ﴿46﴾

پھر ہم اسے آہستہ آہستہ اپنی طرف سمیٹتے ہیں

We then gradually withdraw it towards Us.
Arberry
thereafter We seize it to Ourselves, drawing it gently.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًۭا وَٱلنَّوْمَ سُبَاتًۭا وَجَعَلَ ٱلنَّهَارَ نُشُورًۭا ﴿47﴾

اور وہی ہے جس نے تمہارے لیے رات کو اوڑھنا اور نیند کو راحت بنا دیا اور دن چلنے پھرنے کے لیے بنایا

And it is He Who made the night a veil for you, and the sleep a rest, and made the day for getting up.
Arberry
It is He who appointed the night for you to be a garment and sleep for a rest, and day He appointed for a rising.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ ٱلرِّيَٰحَ بُشْرًۢا بَيْنَ يَدَىْ رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ طَهُورًۭا ﴿48﴾

اوروہی تو ہے جو اپنی رحمت سے پہلے خوشخبری لانے والی ہوائیں چلاتا ہے اور ہم نے آسمان سے پاک پانی نازل فرمایا

And it is He Who sent the winds giving glad tidings before His mercy; and We sent down purifying water from the sky.
Arberry
And it is He who has loosed the winds, bearing good tidings before His mercy; and We sent down from heaven pure water
لِّنُحْۦِىَ بِهِۦ بَلْدَةًۭ مَّيْتًۭا وَنُسْقِيَهُۥ مِمَّا خَلَقْنَآ أَنْعَٰمًۭا وَأَنَاسِىَّ كَثِيرًۭا ﴿49﴾

تاکہ ہم اس سے مرے ہوئے شہر کو زندہ کریں اور اسے اپنی پیدا کی ہوئی چیزوں، چارپایوں اوربہت سے آدمیوں کوپلائیں

In order that We may revive a dead city with it, and give it to the many beasts and men that We have created, to drink.
Arberry
so that We might revive a dead land, and give to drink of it, of that We created, cattle and men a many.
وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَٰهُ بَيْنَهُمْ لِيَذَّكَّرُوا۟ فَأَبَىٰٓ أَكْثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًۭا ﴿50﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور ہم نے اسے لوگوں میں بانٹ دیا ہے تاکہ نصیحت حاصل کریں پس بہت سے آدمی ناشکری کیے بغیر نہ رہے

And indeed We kept cycles of water among them that they may remember; so most men did not accept, except to be ungrateful.
Arberry
We have indeed turned it about amongst them, so that they may remember; yet most men refuse all but unbelief.
وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَبَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ قَرْيَةٍۢ نَّذِيرًۭا ﴿51﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور اگر ہم چاہتے تو ہر گاؤں میں ایک ڈرانے والا بھیج دیتے
Ahmed Raza Khan
If We willed, We could have sent a Herald of Warning to every village.
Arberry
If We had willed, We would have raised up in every city a warner.
فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ وَجَٰهِدْهُم بِهِۦ جِهَادًۭا كَبِيرًۭا ﴿52﴾
Ahmed Ali
پس کافروں کا کہا نہ مان اس کے ساتھ بڑے زور سے ان کا مقابلہ کر
Ahmed Raza Khan
So do not listen to the disbelievers and, with this Qur’an, fight a great war against them.
Arberry
So obey not the unbelievers, but struggle with them thereby mightily.
۞ وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ هَٰذَا عَذْبٌۭ فُرَاتٌۭ وَهَٰذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌۭ وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخًۭا وَحِجْرًۭا مَّحْجُورًۭا ﴿53﴾

اور وہی ہے جس نے دو دریاؤں کو آپس میں ملا دیا یہ میٹھا خوشگوار ہے او ریہ کھاری کڑوا ہے اوران دونوں میں ایک پردہ اور مستحکم آڑ بنا دی

And it is He Who caused the two joint seas to flow- one is palatable, very sweet, and the other is salty, very bitter; and kept a veil between them and a preventing barrier.
Arberry
And it is He who let forth the two seas, this one Sweet, grateful to taste, and this salt, bitter to the tongue, and He set between them a barrier, and a ban forbidden.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ مِنَ ٱلْمَآءِ بَشَرًۭا فَجَعَلَهُۥ نَسَبًۭا وَصِهْرًۭا ۗ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ قَدِيرًۭا ﴿54﴾

اوروہی ہے جس نے انسان کو پانی سے پیدا کیا پھر ا س کے لیے رشتہ نسب اور دامادی قائم کیا اور تیرا رب ہر چیز پر قادر ہے

And it is He Who created man from water, then appointed relatives and in-laws for him; and your Lord is All Able.
Arberry
And it is He who created of water a mortal, and made him kindred of blood and marriage; thy Lord is All-powerful.
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُهُمْ وَلَا يَضُرُّهُمْ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱلْكَافِرُ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ ظَهِيرًۭا ﴿55﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور وہ الله کے سوا ایسے کو پوجتے ہیں جو انہیں نہ نفع دے سکتے ہیں نہ نقصان پہنچا سکتے ہیں اور کافر اپنے رب کی طرف پیٹھ پھیرنے والا ہے

And they worship such, other than Allah, which neither benefit nor hurt them; and the disbeliever helps the devil instead of his Lord.
Arberry
And they serve, apart from God, what neither profits them nor hurts them; and the unbeliever is ever a partisan against his Lord.
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرًۭا وَنَذِيرًۭا ﴿56﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور ہم نےتمہیں محض خوشخبری دینے والا اور ڈرانے والا بنا کر بھیجا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And We have not sent you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) except as a Herald of glad tidings and warnings.
Arberry
We have sent thee not, except good tidings to bear, and warning.
قُلْ مَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِلَّا مَن شَآءَ أَن يَتَّخِذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًۭا ﴿57﴾
Ahmed Ali
کہہ دو میں اس پر تم سے کوئی مزدوری نہیں مانگتا مگر جو شخص اپنے رب کی طرف راستہ معلوم کرنا چاہے

Proclaim, “I do not ask any fee from you for this, except that whoever wills may take the way to his Lord.”
Arberry
Say: 'I do not ask of you a wage for this, except for him who wishes to take to his Lord a way.'
وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْحَىِّ ٱلَّذِى لَا يَمُوتُ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِهِۦ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِهِۦ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرًا ﴿58﴾
Ahmed Ali
اورتم اس زندہ خدا پر بھروسہ رکھو جو کبھی نہ مرے گا اور اس کی تسبیح اورحمد کرتے رہو اور وہ اپنے بندوں کے گناہوں سے کافی خبردار ہے

And trust the Living One Who will never die, and praising Him proclaim His Purity; and He is Sufficient upon the sins of His bondmen, All Aware.
Arberry
Put thy trust in the Living God, the Undying, and proclaim His praise. Sufficiently is He aware of His servants sins
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِى سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍۢ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ۚ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ فَسْـَٔلْ بِهِۦ خَبِيرًۭا ﴿59﴾

جس نے آسمان اور زمین اور جو کچھ ان میں ہے چھ دن میں بنایا پھر عرش پر قائم ہوا وہ رحمنٰ ہے پس ا س کی شان کسی خبردار سے پوچھو

The One Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six days, then befitting His Majesty, established Himself upon the Throne (of control); the Most Gracious – therefore ask the one who knows, concerning Him!
Arberry
who created the heavens and the earth, and what between them is, in six days, then sat Himself upon the Throne, the All-compassionate: ask any informed of Him!
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ قَالُوا۟ وَمَا ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ أَنَسْجُدُ لِمَا تَأْمُرُنَا وَزَادَهُمْ نُفُورًۭا ۩ ﴿60﴾
Ahmed Ali
اورجب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ رحمنٰ کو سجدہ کرو توکہتے ہیں رحمنٰ کیا ہے کیا ہم اسے سجدہ کریں جس کے لیے تو کہہ دے اور اس سے انہیں اور زیادہ نفرت ہوتی ہے

And when it is said to them, “Prostrate to the Most Gracious” – they say, “And what is the Most Gracious? Shall we prostrate to whatever you command us?” And this command only increases the hatred in them. (Command of Prostration # 7)
Arberry
But when they are told, 'Bow yourselves to the All-merciful,' they say, 'And what is the All-merciful? Shall we bow ourselves to what thou biddest us?' And it increases them in aversion.
تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجًۭا وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا سِرَٰجًۭا وَقَمَرًۭا مُّنِيرًۭا ﴿61﴾

بڑا برکت والا ہے وہ جس نے آسمان میں ستارے بنائے اور اس میں چراغ اور چمکتا ہوا چاند بھی بنایا

Most Auspicious is He Who created lofty towers in the sky and placed a lamp in it, and the luminous moon.
Arberry
Blessed be He who has set in heaven constellations, and has set among them a lamp, and an illuminating moon.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ خِلْفَةًۭ لِّمَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يَذَّكَّرَ أَوْ أَرَادَ شُكُورًۭا ﴿62﴾

اور وہی ہے جس نے رات اور دن یکے بعد دیگرے آنے والے بنائے یہ اس کے لیے ہے جو سمجھنا چاہے یا شکر کرنا چاہے

And it is He Who created the alternation of the night and day for one who wishes to remember or intends to give thanks.
Arberry
And it is He who made the night and day a succession for whom He desires to remember or He desires to be thankful.
وَعِبَادُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ هَوْنًۭا وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ ٱلْجَٰهِلُونَ قَالُوا۟ سَلَٰمًۭا ﴿63﴾

اور رحمنٰ کے بندے وہ ہیں جو زمین پردبے پاؤں چلتے ہیں اورجب ان سے بے سمجھ لوگ بات کریں تو کہتے ہیں سلام ہے

And the bondmen of the Most Gracious who walk upon the earth humbly, and when the ignorant address them they answer, “Peace”. (Good –bye)
Arberry
The servants of the All-merciful are those who walk in the earth modestly and who, when the ignorant address them, say, 'Peace';
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَبِيتُونَ لِرَبِّهِمْ سُجَّدًۭا وَقِيَٰمًۭا ﴿64﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور وہ لوگ جو اپنے رب کے سامنے سجدہ میں اور کھڑے ہوکر رات گزارتے ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khan
And who spend the night prostrating and standing, for their Lord.
Arberry
who pass the night prostrate to their Lord and standing;
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا ٱصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا ﴿65﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور وہ لوگ جو کہتے ہیں اے ہمارے رب ہم سے دوزخ کا عذاب دور کر دے بے شک اس کا عذاب پوری تباہی ہے

And who submit, “Our Lord – avert the punishment of hell from us; indeed its punishment is a permanent neck-shackle.”
Arberry
who say, 'Our Lord, turn Thou from us the chastisement of Gehenna; surely its chastisement is torment most terrible;
إِنَّهَا سَآءَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّۭا وَمُقَامًۭا ﴿66﴾

بے شک وہ برا ٹھکانا اوربڑی قیام گاہ ہے

Indeed it is a most wretched abode.
Arberry
evil it is as a lodging-place and an abode';
وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ لَمْ يُسْرِفُوا۟ وَلَمْ يَقْتُرُوا۟ وَكَانَ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ قَوَامًۭا ﴿67﴾

اوروہ لوگ جب خرچ کرتے ہیں تو فضول خرچی نہیں کرتے اور نہ تنگی کرتے ہیں اور ان کا خرچ ان دونوں کے درمیان اعتدال پر ہوتا ہے

And those who, when spending, neither exceed the limits nor act miserly, and stay in moderation between the two.
Arberry
who, when they expend, are neither prodigal nor parsimonious, but between that is a just stand;
وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ ۚ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ يَلْقَ أَثَامًۭا ﴿68﴾
Ahmed Ali
اوروہ جو الله کے سوا کسی اور معبود کونہیں پکارتے اور اس شخص کوناحق قتل نہیں کرتے جسے الله نے حرام کر دیا ہے اور زنا نہیں کرتے اور جس شخص نے یہ کیا وہ گناہ میں جا پڑا

And those who do not worship any other deity along with Allah, and do not unjustly kill any living thing which Allah has forbidden, nor commit adultery; and whoever does this will receive punishment.
Arberry
who call not upon another god with God, nor slay the soul God has forbidden except by right, neither fornicate, for whosoever does that shall meet the price
يُضَٰعَفْ لَهُ ٱلْعَذَابُ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَيَخْلُدْ فِيهِۦ مُهَانًا ﴿69﴾

قیامت کے دن اسے دگنا عذاب ہو گا اس میں ذلیل ہو کر پڑا رہے گا
Ahmed Raza Khan
The punishment shall be increased for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will remain in it forever, with humiliation.
Arberry
of sin-doubled shall be the chastisement for him on the Resurrection Day, and he shall dwell therein humbled,
إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلًۭا صَٰلِحًۭا فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ ٱللَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ حَسَنَٰتٍۢ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا ﴿70﴾
Ahmed Ali
مگر جس نے توبہ کی اور ایمان لایا اور نیک کام کیے سو انہیں الله برائیوں کی جگہ بھلائیاں بدل دے گا اور الله بخشنے والا مہربان ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
Except one who repents and accepts faith and does good deeds – so Allah will turn their evil deeds into virtues; and Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Arberry
save him who repents, and believes, and does righteous work -- those, God will change their evil deeds into good deeds, for God is ever All-forgiving, All-compassionate;
وَمَن تَابَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا فَإِنَّهُۥ يَتُوبُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَتَابًۭا ﴿71﴾

اور جس نے توبہ کی اور نیک کام کیے تو وہ الله کی طرف رجوع کرتا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And whoever repents and does good deeds – so he has inclined towards Allah with repentance as was required.
Arberry
and whosoever repents, and does righteousness, he truly turns to God in repentance.
وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَشْهَدُونَ ٱلزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِٱللَّغْوِ مَرُّوا۟ كِرَامًۭا ﴿72﴾

اور جو بے ہودہ باتوں میں شامل نہیں ہوتے اور جب بیہودہ باتوں کے پاس سے گزریں تو شریفانہ طور سے گزرتے ہیں

And those who do not give false testimony, and when they pass near some indecency, they pass by it saving their honour.
Arberry
And those who bear not false witness and, when they pass by idle talk, pass by with dignity;
وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَمْ يَخِرُّوا۟ عَلَيْهَا صُمًّۭا وَعُمْيَانًۭا ﴿73﴾

اور وہ لوگ جب انہیں ان کے رب کی آیتوں سے سمجھایا جاتا ہے تو ان پر بہرے اندھے ہو کر نہیں گرتے

And those who, when they are reminded of the signs of their Lord, do not fall deaf and blind upon them.
Arberry
who, when they are reminded of the signs of their Lord, fall not down thereat deaf and blind;
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَٰجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍۢ وَٱجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا ﴿74﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور وہ جو کہتے ہیں کہ ہمارے رب ہمیں ہماری بیویوں اور اولاد کی طرف سے آنکھوں کی ٹھنڈک عطا فرما اور ہمیں پرہیزگاروں کا پیشوا بنا دے

And who submit, “Our Lord, soothe our eyes with our wives and our children, and make us leaders of the pious.”
Arberry
who say, 'Our Lord, give us refreshment of our wives and seed, and make us a model to the godfearing.'
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يُجْزَوْنَ ٱلْغُرْفَةَ بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ وَيُلَقَّوْنَ فِيهَا تَحِيَّةًۭ وَسَلَٰمًا ﴿75﴾

یہی لوگ ہیں جنہیں ان کے صبر کے بدلہ میں جنت کے بالا خانے دیے جائیں گے اور ان کا وہاں دعا اور سلام سے استقبال کیا جائے گا

They will be rewarded the highest position in heaven, the recompense of their patience, and they will be welcomed with honour and greetings of peace.
Arberry
Those shall be recompensed with the highest heaven, for that they endured patiently, and they shall receive therein a greeting and --' Peace!'
خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ حَسُنَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّۭا وَمُقَامًۭا ﴿76﴾

اس میں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہوں گے ٹھیرنے اور رہنے کی خوب جگہ ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
They shall abide in it forever; what an excellent abode and place of stay.
Arberry
Therein they shall dwell forever; fair it is as a lodging-place and an abode.
قُلْ مَا يَعْبَؤُا۟ بِكُمْ رَبِّى لَوْلَا دُعَآؤُكُمْ ۖ فَقَدْ كَذَّبْتُمْ فَسَوْفَ يَكُونُ لِزَامًۢا ﴿77﴾

کہہ دو میرا رب تمہاری پروا نہیں کرتا اگرتم اسے نہ پکارو سو تم جھٹلا توچکے ہو پھر اب تو اس کا وبال پڑ کر رہے گا
Ahmed Raza Khan
Say (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) “You have no value before My Lord if you do not worship Him; so you have denied – therefore the punishment that remains, will occur.”
Arberry
Say: 'My Lord esteems you not at all were it not for your prayer, for you have cried lies, and it shall surely be fastened.'
