بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍۢ وَاقِعٍۢ ﴿1﴾

Mubarakpuri

A questioner asked concerning a torment about to befall

لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌۭ ﴿2﴾

Mubarakpuri

Upon the disbelievers, which none can avert,

مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ ﴿3﴾

Mubarakpuri

From Allah, the Lord of the ways of ascent.

تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍۢ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍۢ ﴿4﴾

Mubarakpuri

The angels and the Ruh ascend to Him in a Day the measure whereof is fifty thousand years.

فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًۭا جَمِيلًا ﴿5﴾

Mubarakpuri

So be patient, with a good patience.

إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًۭا ﴿6﴾

Mubarakpuri

Verily, they see it (the torment) afar off.

وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًۭا ﴿7﴾

Mubarakpuri

But We see it near.

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ ﴿8﴾

Mubarakpuri

The Day that the sky will be like the Al-Muhl.

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ﴿9﴾

Mubarakpuri

And the mountains will be like `Ihn.

وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًۭا ﴿10﴾

Mubarakpuri

And no friend will ask a friend,

يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ ﴿11﴾

Mubarakpuri

Though they shall be made to see one another, the criminal would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children.

وَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَأَخِيهِ ﴿12﴾

Mubarakpuri

And his wife and his brother,

وَفَصِيلَتِهِ ٱلَّتِى تُـْٔوِيهِ ﴿13﴾

Mubarakpuri

And his Fasilah who sheltered him,

وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًۭا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ ﴿14﴾

Mubarakpuri

And all that are in the earth, so that it might save him.

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ ﴿15﴾

Mubarakpuri

By no means! Verily, it will be the fire of Hell,

نَزَّاعَةًۭ لِّلشَّوَىٰ ﴿16﴾

Mubarakpuri

Nazza`ah the Shawa!

تَدْعُوا۟ مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴿17﴾

Mubarakpuri

Calling (all) such as turn their backs and turn away their faces.

وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰٓ ﴿18﴾

Mubarakpuri

And collect (wealth) and hide it (from spending it in the cause of Allah).

۞ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا ﴿19﴾

Mubarakpuri

Verily, man was created very impatient;

إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعًۭا ﴿20﴾

Mubarakpuri

Apprehensive when evil touches him;

وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا ﴿21﴾

Mubarakpuri

And suppressive when good touches him.

إِلَّا ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ ﴿22﴾

Mubarakpuri

Except those who are devoted to Salah.

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآئِمُونَ ﴿23﴾

Mubarakpuri

Those who with their Salah are Da'imun;

وَٱلَّذِينَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ ﴿24﴾

Mubarakpuri

And those in whose wealth there is a recognized right.

لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ ﴿25﴾

Mubarakpuri

For the one who asks, and for the deprived.

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿26﴾

Mubarakpuri

And those who believe in the Day of Recompense.

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ ﴿27﴾

Mubarakpuri

And those who fear the torment of their Lord.

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍۢ ﴿28﴾

Mubarakpuri

Verily, the torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure.

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَٰفِظُونَ ﴿29﴾

Mubarakpuri

And those who guard their private part (chastity).

إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ ﴿30﴾

Mubarakpuri

Except from their wives or their right hand possessions -- for (then) they are not blameworthy.

فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ ﴿31﴾

Mubarakpuri

But whosoever seeks beyond that, then it is those who are trespassers.

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَٰنَٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ ﴿32﴾

Mubarakpuri

And those who keep their trusts and covenants.

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَٰدَٰتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَ ﴿33﴾

Mubarakpuri

And those who stand firm in their testimonies.

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ ﴿34﴾

Mubarakpuri

And those who are with their Salah, Yuhafizun.

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ مُّكْرَمُونَ ﴿35﴾

Mubarakpuri

Such shall dwell in the Gardens, honored

فَمَالِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ ﴿36﴾

Mubarakpuri

So, what is the matter with those disbelievers, before you Muhti`in

عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ ﴿37﴾

Mubarakpuri

On the right and on the left, `Izin.

أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍۢ ﴿38﴾

Mubarakpuri

Does every man of them hope to enter the Paradise of Delight

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿39﴾

Mubarakpuri

But no! Verily, We have created them out of that which they know!

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْمَشَٰرِقِ وَٱلْمَغَٰرِبِ إِنَّا لَقَٰدِرُونَ ﴿40﴾

Mubarakpuri

But no! I swear by the Lord of the easts and the wests that surely We are Able

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًۭا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ ﴿41﴾

Mubarakpuri

To replace them by (others) better than them; and We are not to be outrun.

فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ ﴿42﴾

Mubarakpuri

So, leave them to plunge in vain talk and play about, until they meet their Day which they are promised.

يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًۭا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍۢ يُوفِضُونَ ﴿43﴾

Mubarakpuri

The Day when they will come out of the graves quickly as racing to a Nusub,

خَٰشِعَةً أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌۭ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ ﴿44﴾

Mubarakpuri

With their eyes lowered in fear and humility, ignominy covering them (all over)! That is the Day which they were promised!
