بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ ﴿1﴾

وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةًۭ يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌۭ مُّسْتَمِرٌّۭ ﴿2﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور اگر وہ کوئی معجزہ دیکھ لیں تو اس سے منہ موڑ لیں اور کہیں یہ تو ہمیشہ سے چلا آتا جادو ہے

And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!”
Arberry
Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!'
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍۢ مُّسْتَقِرٌّۭ ﴿3﴾

اور انہوں نے جھٹلایا اور اپنی خواہشوں کی پیروی کی اور ہر بات کے لیے ایک وقت مقرر ہے

And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided!
Arberry
They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled.
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ ﴿4﴾

اور ان کے پاس وہ خبریں آ چکی ہیں جن میں کافی تنبیہ ہے

And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them.

And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent --
حِكْمَةٌۢ بَٰلِغَةٌۭ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ ﴿5﴾

اورپوری دانائی بھی ہے پر ان کو ڈرانے والوں سے فائدہ نہیں پہنچا

The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit?

a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail.
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍۢ نُّكُرٍ ﴿6﴾
Ahmed Ali
پس ان سے منہ موڑ لے جس دن پکارنے والا ایک نا پسند چیز کے لیے پکارے گا

Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter –

So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing,
خُشَّعًا أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌۭ مُّنتَشِرٌۭ ﴿7﴾

اپنی آنکھیں نیچے کیے ہوئے قبروں سے نکل پڑیں گے جیسے ٹڈیاں پھیل پڑی ہوں

They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts.
Arberry
abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers,
مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌۭ ﴿8﴾
Ahmed Ali
بلانے والے کی طرف بھاگے جا رہے ہوں گے یہ کافر کہہ رہے ہوں گے یہ تو بڑا ہی سخت دن ہے

Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.”

running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!'
۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍۢ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌۭ وَٱزْدُجِرَ ﴿9﴾

ان سے پہلے قوم نوح نے بھی جھٹلایا تھا پس انہوں نے ہمارے بندے کو جھٹلایا اور کہا دیوانہ ہے اور اسے جھڑک دیا گیا

Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him.
Arberry
The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected.
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌۭ فَٱنتَصِرْ ﴿10﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھر نوح نے اپنے رب کو پکارا کہ میں تو مغلوب ہو گیا تو میری مدد کر
Ahmed Raza Khan
He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.”
Arberry
And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!'
فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍۢ مُّنْهَمِرٍۢ ﴿11﴾

پھر ہم نے موسلا دھار پانی سے آسمان کے دروازے کھول دیے

We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously.
Arberry
Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential,
وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًۭا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍۢ قَدْ قُدِرَ ﴿12﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور ہم نے زمین سے چشمے جاری کر دیے پھر جہاں تک پانی کا چڑھاؤ چڑھنا ٹھہر چکا تھاچڑھ آیا

And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined.
Arberry
and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed.
وَحَمَلْنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٰحٍۢ وَدُسُرٍۢ ﴿13﴾

اور ہم نے نوح کو تختوں اور کیلوں والی کشتی پر سوار کیا
Ahmed Raza Khan
And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails.

And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked
تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءًۭ لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ ﴿14﴾

جو ہماری عنایت سے چلتی تھی یہ اس کا بدلہ تھا جس کا انکار کیا گیا تھا

Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected.

running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied.
وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَٰهَآ ءَايَةًۭ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ﴿15﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور ہم نے اس کو ایک نشان بنا کر چھوڑ دیا پس کیا کوئی نصیحت پکڑنے والا ہے

And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder?
Arberry
And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember?
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ﴿16﴾

پھر (دیکھا) ہمارا عذاب اور ڈرانا کیسا تھا
Ahmed Raza Khan
So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats?

How then were My chastisement and My warnings?
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ﴿17﴾

اور البتہ ہم نے تو سمجھنے کے لیے قرآن کو آسان کر دیا پھر کوئی ہے کہ سمجھے

And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember?

Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember?
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌۭ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ﴿18﴾

قوم عاد نے بھی جھٹلایا تھا پھر (دیکھا) ہمارا عذاب اور ڈرانا کیسا تھا

The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings?
Arberry
Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings?
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًۭا صَرْصَرًۭا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍۢ مُّسْتَمِرٍّۢ ﴿19﴾

بے شک ہم نے ایک دن سخت آندھی بھیجی تھی جس کی نحوست دائمی تھی

We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever.

We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous,
تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍۢ مُّنقَعِرٍۢ ﴿20﴾

جو لوگوں کو ایسا پھینک رہی تھی کہ گویا وہ کھجور کے جڑ سے اکھڑے ہوئے پیڑ ہیں

Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms.
Arberry
plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees.
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ﴿21﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھر (دیکھا) ہمارا عذاب اور ڈرانا کیسا تھا

So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings?
Arberry
How then were My chastisement and My warnings?
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ﴿22﴾

اور البتہ ہم نے قرآن کو سمجھنے کے لیے آسان کر دیا ہے پھر ہے کوئی کہ سمجھے

And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember?

Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember?
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ﴿23﴾

قوم ثمود نے بھی ڈرانے والوں کو جھٹلایا تھا
Ahmed Raza Khan
The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers.
Arberry
Thamood cried lies to the warnings
فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرًۭا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدًۭا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًۭا لَّفِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ وَسُعُرٍ ﴿24﴾
Ahmed Ali
پس کہا کیا ہم اپنے میں سے ایک آدمی کے کہنے پر چلیں گے تب تو ہم ضرور گمراہی اور دیوانگی میں جا پڑیں گے
Ahmed Raza Khan
So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!”
Arberry
and said, 'What, shall we follow a mortal, one out of ourselves? Then indeed we should be in error and insanity!
أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌۭ ﴿25﴾

کیا ہم میں سے اسی پر وحی بھیجی گئی بلکہ وہ بڑا جھوٹا (اور) شیخی خورہ ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
“What! Of all the men among us, the remembrance has come down upon him? In fact, he is a mischievous, great liar.”
Arberry
Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.'
سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًۭا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ ﴿26﴾

عنقریب انہیں معلوم ہو جائے گا کون بڑا جھوٹا (اور) شیخی خورہ ہے
Ahmed Raza Khan
It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.”
Arberry
'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar.
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةًۭ لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ ﴿27﴾
Ahmed Ali
بے شک ہم ان کی آزمائش کے لیے اونٹنی بھیجنے والے ہیں پس (اے صالح) ان کا انتظار کر اور صبر کر

“We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.”
Arberry
They shall send the She-camel as a trial for them; so watch thou them and keep patience.
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍۢ مُّحْتَضَرٌۭ ﴿28﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور ان سے کہہ دو کہ پانی ان میں بٹ گیا ہے ہر ایک اپنی باری سے پانی پلایا کرے
Ahmed Raza Khan
“And inform them that the water is to be shared between them; only those may come whose turn it is.”
Arberry
And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn.
فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ ﴿29﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھر انہوں نے اپنے رفیق کو بلایا تب اس نے ہاتھ بڑھایا اور (اس کی) کانچیں کاٹ ڈالیں

In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel.
Arberry
Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her.
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ﴿30﴾
Ahmed Ali
پھر (دیکھا) ہمارا عذاب اور ڈرانا کیسا تھا
Ahmed Raza Khan
So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings?

How then were My chastisement and My warnings?
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ فَكَانُوا۟ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ ﴿31﴾

بے شک ہم نے ان پر ایک زور کی چیخ کا عذاب بھیجا پھر وہ ایسے ہو گئے جیسا کانٹو ں کی باڑ کا چورا

Indeed We sent upon them a single Scream – thereupon they became like the barrier builder’s residual dry trampled hay.

We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder.
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ﴿32﴾

اور البتہ ہم نے قرآن کو سمجھنے کے لیے آسان کر دیا ہے پھر ہے کوئی سمجھنے والا

And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember?

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ﴿33﴾

قوم لوط نے بھی ڈرانے والوں کو جھٹلایا تھا

The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers.
Arberry
The people of Lot cried lies to the warnings.
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍۢ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَٰهُم بِسَحَرٍۢ ﴿34﴾
Ahmed Ali
بے شک ہم نے ان پر پتھر برسائے سوائے لوط کے گھر والوں کے ہم نے انہیں پچھلی رات نجات دی

Indeed We sent a shower of stones upon them, except the family of Lut; We rescued them before dawn.
Arberry
We loosed against them a squall of pebbles except the folk of Lot; We delivered them at the dawn --
نِّعْمَةًۭ مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ ﴿35﴾
Ahmed Ali
یہ ہماری طرف سے فضل ہے جو شکر کرتا ہے ہم اسے ایسا ہی بدلہ دیا کرتے ہیں

As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks.
Arberry
a blessing from Us; even so We recompense him who is thankful.
وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ﴿36﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور وہ انہیں ہماری پکڑ سے ڈرا چکا تھا پس وہ ڈرانے میں شک کرنے لگے
Ahmed Raza Khan
And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings.
Arberry
He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings.
وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ﴿37﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور البتہ اس سے اس کے مہمانوں کا مطالبہ کرنے لگے تو ہم نے ان کی آنکھیں مٹا دیں پس (کہا) میرے عذاب اور میرے ڈرانے کا مزہ چکھو

And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.”

Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!'
وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌۭ مُّسْتَقِرٌّۭ ﴿38﴾
Ahmed Ali
اور بے شک صبح کو ان پر ایک عذاب نہ ٹلنے والا آ پڑا

And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning.

In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement:
فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ﴿39﴾
Ahmed Ali
پس میرے عذاب اور میرے ڈرانے کا مزہ چکھو

“So taste My punishment, and My warnings!”

'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!'
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ﴿40﴾

اور البتہ ہم نے سمجھنے کے لیے قرآن کو آسان کر دیا ہے پھر ہے کوئی سمجھنے والا

And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember?

Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember?
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ ﴿41﴾

اور البتہ فرعون کے خاندان کے پاس بھی ڈرانے والے آئے تھے

And indeed the Noble Messengers came to the people of Firaun.

The warnings came also to Pharaoh's folk.
كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرٍ ﴿42﴾
Ahmed Ali
انہوں نے ہماری سب نشانیوں کو جھٹلایا پھر ہم نے انہیں بڑی زبردست پکڑ سے پکڑا

They denied all Our signs, We therefore seized them – the seizure of the Most Honourable, the All Powerful.
Arberry
They cried lies to Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with the seizing of One mighty, omnipotent.
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌۭ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ ﴿43﴾

کیا تمہارے منکر ان لوگوں سے اچھے ہیں یا تمہارے لیے کتابوں میں نجات لکھی ہے

Are your disbelievers better than they were, or have you been given exemption in the Books?
Arberry
What, are your unbelievers better than those? Or have you an immunity in the Scrolls?
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌۭ مُّنتَصِرٌۭ ﴿44﴾
Ahmed Ali
کیا وہ یہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم زبردست جماعت ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khan
Or they say, “We shall all take revenge as a group.”
Arberry
Or do they say, 'We are a congregation that shall be succoured?'
سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ ﴿45﴾
Ahmed Ali
عنقریب یہ جماعت بھی شکست کھائے گی اور پیٹھ پھیر کر بھاگیں گے

The group will soon be routed, and will turn their backs to flee.
Arberry
Certainly the host shall be routed, and turn their backs.
بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ ﴿46﴾

بلکہ قیامت ان کے وعدے کا وقت ہے اور قیامت زیادہ دہشت ناک اور تلخ تر ہے

In fact their promise is upon the Last Day – and the Last Day is very severe and very bitter!

Nay, but the Hour is their tryst, and the Hour is very calamitous and bitter.
إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ وَسُعُرٍۢ ﴿47﴾

بے شک مجرم گمراہی اور جنون میں ہیں

Indeed the criminals are astray and insane.

Surely the sinners are in error and insanity!
يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ ﴿48﴾
Ahmed Ali
جس دن اپنے منہ کے بل دوزخ میں گھسیٹے جائیں گے (کہا جائے گا) آگ لگنے کا مزہ چکھو

On the day when they are dragged upon their faces in the fire – “Taste the heat of hell.”

The day when they are dragged on their faces into the Fire: 'Taste now the touch of Sakar!'
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَٰهُ بِقَدَرٍۢ ﴿49﴾

بے شک ہم نے ہر چیز اندازے سے بنائی ہے

We have indeed created all things by a proper measure.
Arberry
Surely We have created everything in measure.
وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌۭ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ ﴿50﴾

اور ہمارا حکم تو ایک ہی بات ہوتی ہے جیسا کہ پلک جھپکنا

And Our command is only a fleeting one – like the batting of an eyelid.

Our commandment is but one word, as the twinkling of an eye.
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ ﴿51﴾

اور البتہ ہم تمہارے جیسوں کو غارت کر چکے ہیں پھر کیا کوئی سمجھنے والا ہے

And We have indeed destroyed your kind, so is there one who would ponder?

We have destroyed the likes of you; is there any that will remember?
وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍۢ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ ﴿52﴾

اور پھر جو کچھ بھی انہوں نے کیا ہے وہ اعمال ناموں میں موجود ہے

And all what they did is in the Books.

Every thing that they have done is in the Scrolls,
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍۢ وَكَبِيرٍۢ مُّسْتَطَرٌ ﴿53﴾

اور ہر چھوٹا اور بڑا کام لکھا ہوا ہے

And every small and great thing is recorded.

and everything, great and small, is inscribed.
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَنَهَرٍۢ ﴿54﴾

بے شک پرہیزگار باغوں اور نہروں میں ہوں گے

Indeed the pious are amidst Gardens and springs.

Surely the godfearing shall dwell amid gardens and a river
فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ ﴿55﴾

عزت کے مقام میں قادر مطلق بادشاہ کے حضور میں

Seated in an assembly of the Truth, in the presence of Allah, the Omnipotent King.

in a sure abode, in the presence of a King Omnipotent.
